All have their pros and cons.. weight vs strength.... strength vs parasitic loss.... price vs anything...
It all depends on what is important to you...
I got my 9" with locker....LS brakes.... locker....35 spline axels and 3.90s for less than 1500 shipped and it was LIKE new....
It was the deal that was there when I was looking.....

Personally I like the s60 but its heavy. It will take anything you can throw at it. But for your build an 8.8 or a 12 bolt should be fine imho

I would go at least an 8.8. I heard Moser wouldn't sell 12 bolts to 6 speed guys for awhile because they were breaking them too fast. That was a few years ago though, so I don't know if the issue was corrected or not.
In all reality, it's going to depend on what deals you can find and what you want to do with your build. I have about 1600 into my 8.8 build, but I still need a torque arm bracket (that I intend to build myself), and it just happened to work out the best for me. Take some time, do a little research, and keep an eye out for what's out there. Deals pop up all the time."Only in the Corps can you put three guys in a room with an anvil and a rubber mallet, come back 15 min later, and the anvil is broken, the rubber mallet is missing, and nobody saw a damned thing!"

I have a Quick Performance 31 spline 9 inch. I know Im not putting down numbers as high as others like popo. But i am making north of 400 rwhp. And it has performed great behind my M6 with DR. And a small shot of NO2.
And personally wont be afraid to have it behind my next FI motor. I picked the 9 inch for the weight savings over others.94 Trans am. Built 383/T56(437/409) Wilwoods, tubular suspension, QA1/BMR, Watts Link. Stripped down and set to kill!
Twin Tubo build underway. !GOING AFTER LTX STANDING MILE RECORD!
