I've run two valve bodies, a Transgo Stage 3 kit [FMVB] on a stock 4L80e and a Jakes Performance 4L80e MVB. Jakes is better than the Transgo, no delayed shifts. His also lets you control it with a PCM, but I didn't go that route. I just wired lockup for the converter, it's fun to drive to me.

Really a stock 4L80 with the transgo will laugh at almost any NA small block, and performance 4L80e has serious power holding capabilities. I had to forgo the 4L60e since mine was stolen, but in the end I learned my lesson and made the car stronger.

3.90 seems a little tame to me, but I'm not sure what you use your car for, cam size, shift points, etc.
