Vats bypass
So I've had a security light for awhile and went and got a resistor made up for me. Well stuck the resistor in the holes just to determine if it will work before I started slicing. Car started up but still have a security light. For curiosity sake I unplugged it and the car started still with a security light with vats unplugged and the resistor not in the car. So what gives?

The security light will come on if the VATS gets an abnormal reading during operation. If the car is running when that happens, the car will still continue to operate, but the security light will come on. Basically the car's way of asking "hey boss, everything ok up there?""Only in the Corps can you put three guys in a room with an anvil and a rubber mallet, come back 15 min later, and the anvil is broken, the rubber mallet is missing, and nobody saw a damned thing!"
