Default question on valve lash on lt1 vs ls1

I have a question? why is it that you can just trq down the ls1 rockers and the lt1 needs to have the valve lash adjusted while the engine is running or the non running lesson.

Im just curious what the difference is

The LS1 rockers are pedestal mounted and the torquing is done directly over the pushrod instead of the rocker cup. It's a snap, I did call 911's 98 Formula in about 20 minutes when we swapped to full roller trunion rockers in that car.

Still not sure i understand. I have never worked on an ls1 so i havent seen what your talking about. I was just curiouse becuase I was over at a freinds house and he builts a 99 gmc 1500 reg cab short bed with a ls2 and we got to talking about it and we were discussing the differences between the two engines. He was telling me the lsx platforum is as he put it idiot proof. He stated that you didnt even need to adjust the rockers just trq them down.

I have adjusted my rockers both ways. Still very shaky about doing it as I always feel im screwing up.

Actually, I was mistaken. The LSx stuff only has one nut too, and its in the center. My estimation would be that the 22 ft/lbs was calculated by GM to be the proper pre load setting given the thread pitch of the rocker bolts. That's all I can think of.

Here's something to try. Next time you set your lash, find zero, then use your tq wrench to see how much tq it takes to give the proper pre load at whatever you use, be it 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 a turn or whatever you use. Might find its close.
