How did you affix the upper alternator bolt hole? I've been debating how to finish mine. I've seen some welded, others bolting on the top ear of the old alt. bracket, and others using homemade metal brackets.
EDIT: Nevermind, I saw your other picture. Looks like you bolted on some angle steel. Have you tried this with the engine installed? I'm curious of frame rail clearance.1997 Pontiac Trans Am WS6 clone | Build Thread | - just needs paint!

Should clear by 1 inch. Yes I use 1 1/2 angle iron attached to bracket then spaced alt with grade 8 washes for mock up. Going to mill a space for final. To get pulley to line up on alt, I ground down that mounting point of the alt.1/8 inch.

Ok, I'll try that. I actually cut about 1/8" off the bracket hole instead of the alternator. That way, I won't have to modify the alt. if I ever change it out.
