Driving issue
Yesterday I fired up the car and it felt like I was running a heavy loping cam. As I drove, and the vehicle entered closed loop, it began to bog down, and more pedal was needed to keep the car going. It changes down to the next gear under to continue accelerating and acts like it is searching for the right rpm/load. If I press the pedal slightly, it bogs, but if I press it a bit more it begins to downshift. If it downshifts I have a bit more power, but it isnt until I get it to about 50% throttle that it picks up and takes off, but stills seems to miss a little while doing so. When I get to idle it lowers the idle and feels like it is going to stall out. I end up putting it in neutral and giving it a little gas to kep it alive.
The vehicle won't shift into the next gear unless I let off the gas. Not sure if that's related, but who knows.

Going downhill with light or no throttle seems to be the best result (don't know if that helps). Basically if there is load while accelerating it begins to act up. MAP sensor issue? MAFS issue? O2 sensors have lesss than 2000 miles on em, so I'm not thinking there is an issue there, even though it is running amazingly rich.
The MAFS is warrantied at Autozone, so I might swap out with them and see if that does the trick. Unfortunately I don't have my ohm/volt meter on me so I can't test the terminals on either MAFS or MAP.Last edited by SGT_WRIGHT; 02-20-2010 at 09:04 AM.

have you checked your plug wires? I had that happen to me once in another car, and it turned out I had a burned up plug wire

No, wires are fine. It only goes rough and hard to drive in Closed Loop. All I know is I'm running amazingly rich. The live data says my BLM is maxed (saying its lean) and it is adding more fuel...like waaaay more fuel. Plugs are moist, so I'll be doin a once over tomorrow and see what I can find back at the shop.

Kinda sounds like when my opti went. Actually sounds exactley like when my opti went. Car sounded like it had a huge cam. And at stop lights etc took alot of pedal to keep the car going.

Replaced the 02 sensors, and the right bank is ok now. The left bank is still saying its lean. When you pull the 02 sensor on that side, you can tell it isn't. It's really rich on the drivers side. When I hooked up Freescan, it says that the voltage in the sensor is 0.04, but the right bank is .40 and fluctuates (like it should). The drivers side stays low, and then goes up periodically, but not to the correct range. Would this be caused by a lack of power, ground, or heater? Just kinda baffled at the moment.
I was thinking maybe the EGR was at fault, but it only reads lean on the drivers side, so that would nearly rule that out. The MAP, MAF, TPS, IAC and O2's are all new. The O2 sensor wires had to be extended for the longtubes, so that is why I'm thinking I messed something up when wiring them. I'm going to swap the O2's from each side, and see if it still reads low. If it goes to the right side, I know I messed up. If not, I'll have to explore other disgnostics.Last edited by SGT_WRIGHT; 02-28-2010 at 11:42 AM.
