    Default ignition for a carb setup

    so how do i advance and retard the timing accurately. once i go carbed and have a distributor.

    i assume i get #1 to TDC and attach the timing pointer some how and mark the crank pulley. turn as needed?

    Yup, I believe clock wise is advanced and counter is retard if I remember..
