You need to pull it into atleast 2 to launch with the overrun clutches otherwise you're launching on the sprag which will burn out over time

Not trying to like bang through the gears, but sometimes if I know im gonna be pulling Ill drop it to 3rd so I dont have to wait for it to downshift.
