air bag module 96 ss

Wasnt exactly sure which forum to post this question in so ill try here first..

is the airbag module under the center consol like a one shot deal...i have an airbag light on this car i just picked up and im not sure if the airbags were deployed before or not...i didnt knoe if this module would need to be replaced after an accident..the airbags are in there and there isnt evidance of deployment but i cant get the light on the dash out..

More than likely its the ring in the steering wheel. Does it have headers? If the motor has been out or they did headers and they turned the wheel with the shaft off it will break the ring. Sorry the correct name is eluding me this morning.
