    Default How far should I go with my headwork? Bang per $$$ gains

    OK. looks like I'm going to finally be able to crack into my engine towards the end of this winter. Just would like a little input from the more knowledgeable ones on this subject.

    What are the best bang for the buck areas to do head work on? I've watched a few dvd's and read stuff on the internet but still would like some advice. I'm not really looking to go all out or spend a ton of money but I would like to know about what it takes to get the performance of something like the LE1 heads. Just want a little work done to compliment the Ai 226/234 - .569/.570 - 110 LSA cam i'm going to install. IIRC the stockers flow about 215/150 with a 170 cc intake port and LE says the LE1 heads flow about 260/180 with a 195 cc intake port.

    Competition valve job? Back cut valves? 30 degree vavle seat? Gasket match? Port the bowls?

    Would a valve job, back cut valves and gasket match get anywhere near there?

    Gonna set the rev limiter at 6,400 rpms and building the valvetrain to take around 7k.

    U will really need bowl work to meet those flow numbers.

    Over the years I've tried porting my own heads but I always came away unhappy with the results. I decided it's something best left to the experts; guys who know what they're doing. Like Clint Eastwood said in one of his "Dirty Harry" movies, "Man's got to know his limitations". LOL

    From all I've read the most flow improvement is gained by work done in the short turn radius.
