Valve float , improper rocker adjustment , just bad metal, lack of oil , one of the spider retainers shifting causing the lifter to spin . All sorts of weird sruff can cause it . Crack is wack little LT1 engine hahaha.

If you don't have enough spring pressure the valves will float and the lifter will skip down the cam lobe. That's what usually causes the wheels to break.

Leaving it sit for a long period of time with high spring pressure. One or more of the valves can be at max lift, so essentially you'd have the lifter pushing back down on the camshaft with 300-400+ lbs of pressure for months and months. Eventually it can wear a tiny groove. Then when you fire it up, that little groove will gouge everything and create shrapnel.
yucks ....
Lolwat?
OP, are you the guy who hardcore lowballed me on a set of new OBX headers down in OC a while back?
Hahaha, that's sounds like the same guy.
We agreed to $250 on the new set (already $50 less than what I was asking) and when we met in person he offers me $200 because he allegedly needed the other $50 for gas. This is right after I had to drive 70 miles to retrieve them in my cammed car with 4.10s, cry me a river lol.
