Advanced induction 23* Trick Flow heads*pics*

I finally got these bad boys in a couple days ago. I figured it would be good to have some more head porn going in the tech section. I did ak about the rough areas around the opening of the ports and Ron said that it will have NO affect on flow or port velocity. As a matter of fact he said DO NOT go back and clean it up. Keep in mind these are not hand ported so "every" single area will not be touched that doesn't need to be.

What are the other details on your build? Cam specs? Intake work? Supporting Mods? Just curious.

Any reason for going 23* over 21*? Will this be a forced induction build?

Looks nice! Except for the first pic, on one of the intake ports, it looks like as if their cnc machine had a "stupid attack" or something, but overall amazing as always from AI.

Nice! what was the final price? If you don't mind me asking

Motor is a 355 with SRP Professional flat tops with Impala head gaskets. Static compression will be at around 11.7:1heads are 58cc. Supporting mods are Crower NSA split ratio rockers, Ported Intake, 58MM t/b. Cam is a LE 242/248-584/580 on a 110. I have have all the other usual boltons and exhaust. Yea the cam is on the big side but the heads and compression should support it to 7k. If it doesn't work, well I'll go with something else. I'm just curios to see what it does. Heads plus shipping and upgraded valve springs are $2,545

The cnc'ing is dead on. It's the casting itself which is not perfect from one port to the next which causes those "rough" spots, or "stupid attack". All as-cast cylinder heads will not be 100% perfect from one port to the next. The cnc program did exactly what it was supposed to. The rough spots are actually areas where the casting is larger than the cnc'd port wants to be at that particular spot. The cutter moves exactly as it is programmed to do so, but since the wall is further out, the cutter never makes contact so it still is left in its as-cast form, which looks rough compared to the cnc'd sections.

Those chambers look amazing! Take a close-up picture of them!

Thank you joelster for explaining this. You hit the nail right on the head. Which is why I called Ron at Ai and he was saying the exact same thing and all kinds of head technical talk that went above my knowledge. Something about core shift and what not. This is why he didnt want me or anybody else going back over them and smoothing out the rough areas. I'll get some more pics in just a bit.
