I agree most people that chase a number. End up disappointed in the end result. As far as the car performs.

Sorry i really only got course racing to rely on for comparison....

But i run into guys that built the car. That's putting down numbers far greater then mine. But i am still running faster times. And Im doing this because my car was designed around its intended use. And the motor came in last when building it.

I think that a well built 383 or 396 LT1 stroker with the Ai 215 Trickflows, decent streetable HR camshaft, ported intake and monoblade tb, and suitable exhaust would be right around 500rwhp.

I think Alan's yellow 1993 Formula (former GMHTP Thunderchicken) has a setup similar to this right now and is at or very near 500rwhp through a built M6 drivetrain and 12-bolt.

If you put a more aggressive (but still quite streetable) SR valvetrain setup on this same sort of motor and hooked it up to a capable computer I'd expect 530+.

At that level you're not getting 30HP from a cam swap.

The difference between 500 and 530 is huge...new/more ported heads, bigger cam, probably new valvesprings, more RPM.

Switching from a HR to a SR valvetrain and going with a whole other computer (for more RPM, as you noted) isn't my definition of a simple cam swap. If someone who knew what they were doing took a car with a motor like that making 500rw with a stock PCM and HR camshaft and went with an aftermarket PCM and totally new SR valvetrain I'd think it would be easily up 30 #'s. From what I've seen those heads are quite capable of that number with the right valvetrain package.

Point being, 500rwhp has been done with a stock PCM, streetable HR valvetrain and through a built driveline and what it takes to do it is no mystery.

Seriously lol.....with a stick shift its easier....with an automatic as u know Joel its not a cheap nor easy task....I'm heading back to the dump next week for some retuning with the new trans....hoping to crack 570 we will see

Back in the day, I think "Alek SS" did it, stock PCM, HR, M6 trans..stock ported castings. Or maybe that was just a freak car. But I thought he cracked 500rwhp.

I know of ONE stock PCM HR M6 car to ever crack 500 RWHP.

That was with a 355ci, SR setup and FAST Classic ECU.

Here's the info on Thunderchicken. The graph shows 493, he remarks in the thread that one of the pulls was 504rwhp.
