Thanks... it was a custom design that me and my friend came up with and the artist tweaked a good bit... If we had stuck with the original design, god it would've taken forever because my friend is an AMAZING artist and the details on what he drew were incredible.
I decided for the sake of time and money to dumb it down.
I actually had no intentions of having the mirrored look (or yin-yang type look) until the artist was halfway into it. My first session he did the Outline of the white dragon and the entire black one. Then on my next session he was like hey why don't we do like a mirrored, opposite effect and have one filled in and the other one shaded.
I was like "yeah sounds good" and he went at it... so he did the shading on the white dragon that session and then I finally had time to get another appointment with him the next year and that's when I had the wings done. I definitely need to get it touched up some as it has been 3-4 years since I've had anything done but I refuse to let another artist touch his work and he is back up in NY while I'm down in FL the majority of my time now.
He is usually booked 2 months ahead of time so it makes it somewhat difficult. I love the looks of angel/devil wings on women... obviously only the devil wing looks for guys haha.
And if anyone is wondering why the wings aren't "attached" it is because the whole idea was bone structured dragons so it's just shading and filling in around a bone structure.
Re-up...

5 hour session today, getting the other one on the other side in September at the Jax Tattoo convention and my artist wants to enter them in a contest
Holy fawk dude.......that thing is amazing but that must have hurt like hell.
I was fine for the first 4 hours, they were all impressed by how well I sat for it... then the 5th hour he went back in with a single needle to highlight the whole thing and my pain receptors went nuts.
I was swearing every ten seconds and had to take a 5 min break for some food as I hadnt eaten in 6 hours. He was really surprised by how fast we got through it because of how well I sat through.. as I have heard the ribs are one of the most painful places to get done.
I was having a normal convo with the artist and texting my friends most of the time til that last highlighting phase came up. He even warned me it was gonna hurt like a bitch.. I was fine for the first 5 minutes and then he moved along my back and to my side and I couldn't stand it.. but granted this was after those parts had sat for a couple hours of not being touched and I had already open tattooed areas being retatted lol.
I can't wait to get the second one at the convention and I hope I can win him an award.
