8.8 questions

I was talking to a friend tonight and he mentioned that moser made a axle tube end that I would just replace it after I cut the ford one off. Probably a better idea then dont have to worry about getting the axle housings straight.

Found out the main reason why 9" takes extra horse power is not necessarily becasue the ring gear is bigger is because it is offset from the ring gear. If it was in the center it wouldnt be such an issue. You would have a little bit more rotating
mass but not alot that a person couldnt live with it.

But then you still have to worry about getting the tube ends straight. whole tubes or just the ends, you have to make sure they are absolutely square, or you'll eat bearings for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The advantage to using the 10 bolt tubes in a proper jig with an 8.8 center section is that you don't have to cut and re attach all the suspension mounts. Plus you wind up with a rear end that is 100 percent stock width AND it makes ordering axles super easy. I called moser and told them I wanted a 31 spline axle in the stock length and wheel studs as a 98+ camaro.

that kind of sounds like the ticket then. I guess I'm gonna be making a jig then that sounds like a fun time comsumer, but rather take my time vs my money to have someone else do it. Do you know if they run shaft on the inside with spacers on the end and in the inside where the carrier bearings go. Or are they making an exterrior jig?
