Went back to the track after cam swap.

UPDATE: New best cam only, full weight, stock suspension, 7.94 @ 85.8mph

All times are 1/8th mile of course

All stock except 3000 stall I ran a 8.76 @78 with 1.85 60ft

Now after long tubes/ORY, 224/231 cam, roller rockers TB bypass and tune I am running 8.35 @ 82mph with 1.76 60ft

Obviously something is wrong, there are stock lt1s running the same mph, I am just starting this thread so I can keep up with it and maybe help others as I dig into it a little more.


also the DA was pretty much exactly the same

4 mph and 4 tenths in the 1/8 is a pretty good gain. I should net you 5-6mph in the quarter or ~50hp. The 60 ft is not too bad for the mods. There are stock bolt on cars running your times (8.3 1/8) but they are optimized for their setup. I am sure you can get into the mid 12's (7.8's) once it is dialed in and with a good DA. You will need to be at 90 mph to run mid 12's for your setup. You should be at ~84-85mph now so you are not that far off for your ET right now.

What rpms is it shifting at? What valve springs?

Around 6100 I belive, I'm running comp dual springs 10308. With the air as cool as it was last time I ran it should have been faster, I've changed my air box up a little so I'm gonna see if that helps any.
Power feels very smooth just not as strong on top as I think it should be. Started raining so I'll drive it tommarow and see if it feels any better.

What kind of cam? The 10308-1s need to be shimmed if the lobes are aggressive

Its a LE spec Lunati is all I know I bought it from @gunters96lt1 and I didnt receive a cam card.
Its a 224/231 576/589 110LSA but I am running it with a 1.5 RR so it should be 540/552 to help be a little lighter on the valvetrain and I got the rockers cheap for now. I will be upgrading later to some comp 1.6's, not sure if that will really help much powerwise.

Sounds like valve float. Did you shim the springs at all or just drop them in? They set up at 1.850-1.875" on stock al heads which is really only good enough for something like a cc503 with XE lobes. I think you need to shim at least to 1.775". Even though you took the lift down with 1.5 ratio rockers, the lobe profile is still the same so the oil filled lifter and pushrod are still accelerating at the same rates. You can't really do anything about the Crane kit's heavy retainers or spring weight so just increase the pressure a little. Lloyd actually uses the same Crane springs in his LE1 heads but with a different retainer and shims.

If not I can just remove one and see where its at.

And I forgot to mention I did beat a cammed auto LS1 car pretty bad thanks to my Nitto Nt05r's :hail:
