Working on a buddies car, he's got the ASM Monoblade. Found some shaft play in it. Was really weird though, so took it apart and found this:

That's the throttle stop linkage. If you look at the corners around the shaft, see how they're pushing up? Its started to round itself out.
ASM says send back and they'll fix it. We are looking at tack welding it instead. Thoughts?

This actually has very little run time on it. It's VERY weak soft metal. We tack welded it then took a dremel with a carbide bit to clean it up. Solid as a rock now.

This is the first one I've run across. Just open it to WOT by hand and see if the linkage bumps further. I was surprised by how soft this particular one was for sure.
JDs ended up modding mine due to an issue very similar.

Yeah... i believe they put a tack weld to keep from having it over spin. I went full throttle one time prior to the correction and it over pulled it, causing the car to idle at 2k till i forced it back...Quote:
