Has anyone ever considered hacking off the retarded mounting system on these things and making something so the arms will accept normal wiper blades. The only blades i can ever find for the damn thing is the shitty metal ones or the ones from the dealer. Which happen to be just as shitty anyways, but 3 times the price of the regular shitty ones. Im contemplating hacking off the end of the arms and making something so i can mount like reflex blades or something. ANyone else with input on this?

Have you used the Tryco blades yet? Those are the best, and cost just as much as the Bosch POS ones.

Ive never even seen those on the shelf before haha. Maybe ill try looking around for a bit first before i start hacking everything apart. I just get irritated when it leaves streaks on the window. Dirty windshields annoy the hell out of me.

I have the Exact Fit blades on mine and don't seem to have any problems with em. But if your windshield is that dirty... shouldn't you wash the whole car instead?

You kiddin' me? I clean my car like, every 3 days haha. The windshield has never been so dirty to the point where i can't see out of it. Hell, its at most had a light coat of dust on it since ive bought it. Im just VERY picky when it comes to how clean my windshield is.

When i say "streaks" im talking like light water marks that collected a bit of dust and are only visible when the sun is on it. It drives me up the wall lol.

You could try one of those glass polishing kits - it might help you out.

Im trying to find a decent one. I have some pretty bad pitting on my windshield as it stands now.

Don't the LS1s accept the regular blades? I seem to recall reading a thread a while back on LS1Tech about switching to LS1 wiper arms to avoid this issue.

yup, replace them for ls1 wiper arms. That's what I did and now I can use the contemporary style blades.

Now the blades hug the whole windshield and clean the whole windshield like they're supposed to.

Ive never had a problem with replacement blades, I dont know what issues you guys run into about fitment or whatever. I would like to know. I use the rain ex latitude blades without a problem. they just snap in like the metal frame ones do/did.

I have never ran into this problem. Every wiper assy I've seen comes with adapters which allows you to put it onto the wiper arms. The Rain-X ones I'm using now had it and work great. Clean the windshield without streaks or problems.

Im running the RainX ones too, but the ends dont contact the windshield, and sometimes there is gaps in the center of the blade, I have to bend the metal frame of the wiper blade to get them, and usually it works, but sometimes it doesnt, but doing this everytime you buy new blades is becoming a pain

what happens is you get spots where the blade doesnt contact the windshield, which leads to streaking and high pressure areas which leads to scratching. This was a big problem and which is why they changed the design in 98+
the OEM wipers have a weird truss looking frame which helps even out the pressure, but you can only get these from the dealer, and last I checked they were like 40 bucks EACH. And most people with 93-97 F-bodies just chunked the OEM wipers when replacing the blades, instead of keeping them and just replacing the rubber insert

You can make aftermarket wipers work, but its a pain, usually you have to bend the frames and massage them till they work good, but usually after using them a few times they will go out of "alignment" and you end up with streaks and dirty spots again.

thats what Ive always done, bent the metal frame a little on replacement blades so the wiper covers the whole area of the windshield. I just thought it was the window shape was weird or something lol. I was sitting here scratching my head wondering why so many people were having problem with the wipers.

I have always just used Rainx wheatherbeater blades from walmart. All you have to do is flip the supplied connector upside down and snap them on. For 8 bucks a piece they arent to shabby of blades.

Worked well. I got my arms for 50 dollars, first thing i did was put some reflex blades on it. HUUUUGE difference.

Try a pair of rain-ex lattitude wipers. no bending the frame, no missed spots, no more dirty window.
