do these wheels look like they are original wheels for my car? Its a 1996 Formula Firebird. I was jsut curious, cause if they aren't what car came with these wheels? I have a bad rubbin/grinding sound from the rear and want to make sure these wheels aren't some newer firebird wheels that might rub on the caliper or something.

They very well could be... are they the 16" ers???
Grinding may be rear brakes... none of the fbody wheels should rub unless you have larger calipers....

pop off the rears and look at the calipers for rubbing. You should not see any with those wheels. More than likley it a bad E-brake.

yeah they are the 16''
well when i get my car back in a few days im taking it to my mechanic and having him check it all out. Soon enough this car will be flawless, its crappy mechanics that make this car a headache. I ironically have it from where i bought it getting fixed (free) now though just because they are fixing my steering column they messed up and getting it to pass inspection since they guaranteed it to pass. I'm glad i've been a PITA to these people, it should help them realize proper work is important if they are going to guarantee warranty's and whatnot on used cars. I still have some respect for the guy who sold me the car, as he has done the work since i brought it back to fix it, twice and not the pencil necked 19 year old mechanic or the 20 year old ones, he even drove the tow truck out to pick it up. I did get a little pissed off when it wouldnt start friday night due to my car being stuck in security mode and called him pissed off saying i didn't want to buy a piece of sh!t, and he can have a tow truck come down, but it needs to be done if i want my point across.

These are the stock wheels that came on my 94 Formula. Those look like newer ABS wheels, which I also put on my car. Should be exact same dimensions, so they wouldn't be the source of your problem.

They look like stock rims, but could be off a LS1. Not possitve but I thought you need to do some grinding or sanding to get then to fit an LT1. With that said I dont think your rims are touching the calipers.

Yeah you need to do a little grinding on the back LS1 wheels to get them to fit. But that wouldn't be a concern because they wouldn't go on if you didn't..

On my camaro... Ive had salad shooters, the above pictured wheels... ws6 wheels and my current Z06 wheels, and have never had to grind anythng, nor were there any contact issues...

Only LS1 f-body rims need to be modded to fit. Vette rims fit fine.

Are you sure?
Im 99.9% sure that any Fbody wheel will fit any Fbody. 16 inches, ten bolt, bla bla bla.

yeah they'll fit no problem. but ls1 wheels need a little grinding to fit on an lt1 rear since the hub is larger.

and I thought the abs 16" rims came on the 96+ 97 cars, and some ls1 cars I could be wrong though.
Just realized this thread was brought back from the dead

no,the newer style wheels do need to be sanded down/grinded to fit the older rears, the hubs are slightly different
