Hypertech tune with a set of pacesetters longtubes, no cats, free flow muffler. Will this be dangerous OR is the hypertech tune inline for a set of headers? Curious if its fine to hold me over before I Dyno Tune??

hypertechs are garbage, get a real dyno or mail order tune

HYPERTECH:monkey:
is merely HYPE, there is no true way to tune for header mods in this unit!
All it is capable of is adjusting for gears/tires,160° stat and mediocre shift firmness.....

Ok, didnt know if its tune was to lean or not lean enough for headers. Not quite sure what ideal afr is for good basic tune. Hypertech was free and is already on for a good while now, headers on tomorrow.

for an na motor 13.0 or at most 13.5 is good

Did you make sure he was aware that its true?

Agreed with the Hypertechs are crap post.
Go for a mail order tune at least...

Crap post? Asking if the hypertech leaned it out enough for basic stuff. Since I was under the impression headers tend to make it run a little rich. Im for sure going with a dyno tune. for When I port the intake and add the headers.

Confused as to what I meant by "crap post"? I was saying I agreed with CamaroGirls post about the Hypertech being crap, not anything about anyones post being a "crap post".

The Hypertech does not lean out anything as far as I know. You wouldent want it to though, as you would have no way of reading what it got leaned to (Unless you hit up a Dyno right after, which would make no sense since they can do a much better tune there). It really does very minor things compared to what could be accomplished with a Dyno Tune or Mail Order Tune.

By removing the catalytic converters the O2 sensors will likely set a catalyst inefficiency code, or O2 sensor circuit malfunction code. We do not offer the ability to disable these types of codes. That would be a direct violation of the EPA clean air act which would be a federal offense on our part which could cost us a lot of money in fines or worse.

Regarding the longtubes, we haven’t tested our tuning with the longtubes. I suspect that the tune could work OK, but it’s also possible that the headers could reduce the exhaust back pressure and thus natural EGR. Depending on the amount, the additional fresh air replacing the residual exhaust gases could require a less aggressive spark curve than our tuning provides, but from the accounts I’ve seen, the stock exhaust manifolds are not grossly restrictive on these engines. The additional airflow (aka horsepower) will be measured by the mass airflow sensor, and the tune will automatically add additional fuel.

In the end I can only speculate the results. We simply haven’t tested these tunes for the more aggressive mods like headers or intake manifolds, so we can’t give a definitive answer as to the compatibility

wow, whomever gave you that response sucks! they arent liable anyway since they didnt "install" the tune on your car....

Did that rep seriously say the factory manifolds were'nt all that restrictive? Has he ever looked at em and seen em in person or was he just talking through his a$$? Most of what I read looks like he was trying to mask what he was really thinking...."Hell I don't know."

Excellent. I have left the hypertech Tune on after the header Install, and after 200miles or so of cruising I was able to make a couple of wot passes. I noticed a huge Power gain in 4thgear, where as with manifolds the car would just fall on its face in 4th. I am getting a little break up on the top end, but have reinstalled the factory tune to see if it is the tune, or valveFloat.

I was able to put the car on the road today, taking off hypertechs tune. and leaving it for the 180thermostat. Idle was the same, but cruising was much smoother as part throttle acceleration. Also was a dramatic tone change in the exhaust, much smoother. Before it was rough and sounded like a f550. Was able to bringer up wot to 90 or so and it seems the breaking up is gone, never brought it over 5600 though.
