Well I am taking this internship and I will have a year off school so Ill be saving up some money so when I come back to school end of next year I dont have to work. It just got to stressful. So Get some savings then boost. Once I get my car tuned , and a few other things boost may of may not be in the picture still. I was orginally going to use my tax return on the build but decided that paying off my credit card and doctors bills sounds like a better plan

Getting outta debt should always be step one.... remember with good credit, anything is possible... But if you F it up, its so hard to get ahead....
One thing My parents stressed, and now life is easier.... If I see something I want... I have the credit as a back up....
Chris
12-09-2009, 02:22 AM
Yep, I have been pretty good , I got a college credit card and I paid it off monthly till I transferred and went part time so for a year it was paid off monthly then money got tight and I used it so I just want to pay it off and cut it up. The only reason I got one was so I had credit and didnt have to pay a 500 dollar deposit for a phone in my name

One idea I did when I was younger and abusing credit cards.... I got rid of all of them except for one. Then I took that one and I put it inside a plastic pickle jar and filled it with water, I then froze it....
That way I COULD NOT use it for impulse purchases, but when/if an emergency came up... I had it for that.....

It works!, My card is a $20,000 credit limit. I had to do it. Imagine the impulse buying with that card.

I could get in some real trouble
only debt i have right now is ~ $260 on the $21,500 limit card for the WII and Super mario WII that my dad is paying for (well at least the wii part of it)

LOL, wait till you own a home. then you realize how many ways you COULD get in over your head.... 2nd morgages and lines of credit that can sometimes equal 125% of the value.... BARRET JACKSON here I come...!!!!! no.... no.... no..... time to breath.....

the most i've ever spent on one at one time was $6500 for my T/A (i used a $6500 check @ 3.99% APR on the $18,400 Chase card) speaking of the Chase card i just noticed i don't have a physical card for that account anymore for some reason so i just went to chase online and requested a new card. i probably need to use it soon so i don't lose it due to inactivity. i lost some smaller Chase cards including a $1500 one i never actually used. i requested it so i could do a balance transfer a few years ago and it arrived with a smaller amount than i needed to transfer so i never used it. at one point back in 2006/2007 i had ~ $13k in CC debt and $7k in student loans. now i'm down to $0.
I hate how credit card companies will drop you if you don't use their card in a certain amount of time. maybe i like having open lines of credit to keep my score up (it was 802 before they closed some of my smaller accounts due to inactivity, i wonder what it is now)

I'm a JR. in MIS @ Kansas State University.
I've got a job offer on the table (tried to call to accept it today, my contact at HR wasn't in the office) for a summer internship on the database/infrastructure team at American Century Investments in Kansas City. It's a 20 min drive from my mom's house. I'm pretty stoked. It's about 2.5x what I make now and a huge advantage to my resume. Luckily the project I'm working on at work right now is very similar to the project I will be working on during my internship. It should also get my foot in the door at ACI upon my graduation if I decide that's where I want to be. I've also got a buddy presenting my resume to his HR department tomorrow to see if I'm a fit for any potential internship opportunities his company may have available. :metal:

No shit , I am a Junior at Southern Il University,
My whole internship is based around Database integrity and international parts only a few bucks more than I make now but the job offers to siu students with bosch is so vast I could basically pick from a bank and say I want to do this and not have a second though about it once I graduate. Congrats to you to bro
