I'm swapping to a Strange 12 Bolt and I'm using a Spohn Extreme Duty Drive shaft, never messed with drivetrain stuff before so this is all some what new to me. When I spoke to Spohn, from what I gathered the 1350 U joint hardare is universal, so I would just need to go to my local auto parts store and ask for 1350 U joint hard ware kit. Could I use a Moroso U joint girdle instead, any benefits to that? What would I need in addition to the U joint girlde kit far as hard ware? Also I think I found the hardware kit on Denny's, I'll need the U bolt and straps correct if I go that route? link to the girdle

The girdles will look cool, but the only function of a u-joint strap is to retain the u-joint in the yoke. There is very little lateral load on the straps (pull load) because the d/s slides easily in and out of the transmission. As to side/torsional load (twist load) the yoke is designed to take the brunt of that force, provided the joint sits properly in the yoke.

The girdles won't necessarily make anything stronger, as the idea of a u-joint strap/retainer is just that, to hold something in place. HOWEVER the chances are higher that you will over tighten the traditional strap style retainer and crush the u-joint caps which renders the joint useless, whereas the girdle style retainer will stop once the machine surfaces are mated together and then there is no way to over tighten the strap.

The bolts in the girdle would need a pretty high sheer strength to handle being used as a loading surface from the u-joint, which being of a smaller dimension they probably wouldn't be, but that's something you can check into.

Thanks for the help, the 12 Bolt ended up coming with every thing I needed. The drive shaft how ever is a tad bit to short :(
