We are going to be upgrading to the new vBullen 4.0 and I wanted to take a minute to let you guys know what's going on.

This new forum update is going to be huge. Most of our custom add-ons will not work immediately after the install. I'm going to be installing the new version on my private server to get the theme working properly and make sure that we will be able to run it with no errors.

I do not know the date that we will be doing the upgrade, but I do know that the forums will periodically be deactivated for brief periods of time through the week. We are going to be shooting to have everything ready to go by the middle of the week, but there's no promise that will happen.

Stay tuned for the big upgrade and hopefully everything will be alright. Once we get the forum upgraded, we can work on getting all of the add-ons updated and functioning.

Thanks for reading, be sure to post up any questions.

Why the upgrade? Are there problems with the current version, or is this just to make it more user friendly?

What are some of the new features?

You can view all of the new features by going to vbulletin.com

We are upgrading because I want to, lol. I like to keep the forum up to date as much as possible and vb4 is a huuuuuuuuuge update/upgrade from what we are running now. The sooner we get onboard with vb4, the easier it's going to be down the road. I have tons of time available to me right now to sink in and get it done, opposed to in the next few months when I'm going to be working like a maniac again.

Basically, it's now or not for a very long time. And it's going to take a good chunk of time to get everything working before hand, so I'm gonna use it while I got it kind of a thing.

from one admin to another...I've found it best to stay away from any beta releases of vB and furthermore to stay away from initial releases. Give it a week or two and they will release 4.0 RC1 or some other update. I initially tried keeping up with their updates but found myself upgrading on almost a weekly basis. You can run on the bleeding edge with new versions or on the leading edge with proven versions. I prefer the latter. Just my experience talking.

I'm not pushing the update until it's a gold release. I've already spent hours on the new backend and it's completely different and full of bugs still. The Gold release is due by the year's end, so that gives me plenty of time to mess and get most of our template completed. I'm already about 75% done with the template, but there are parts still that are just not responding correctly.

We'll see, I have time to get everything in line.

Cool man, sounds like you are going about it the right way. I wouldn't expect anything less from LTXTech. Thanks for what you do...most don't understand the effort it takes.

I heard that! I've been working on it all day. It wouldn't take so long, but they basically changed everything to CSS, so making a skin isn't as easy as it was before. There are some parts that aren't bad, but over half of the work I've done has been in the CSS :(

Love the site, and cant wait to see what these new features are! vB can be a bitch to deal with.. I helped set up a G8 based forum, and it took me weeks to figure out (and I still dont know what the hell i'm doing!) lol. I had no idea what I got myself into... You guys seem to got it on the lockdown though. Great work guys! :claps:

LTX 2.0 is on hold until further notice. There has been an extreme family emergency and I'll be with my wife at our new home, St Joe's Hospital for the next month or so.

I need to focus on a lot of things and LTX is just not on that list right now. I know you all understand and I appreciate you guys bearing with me in this difficult time. Please keep my wife in your thoughts and prayers. There's a whole story to tell but not enough time to do so right now.

Thanks everyone, I love this community and need your support, something I know you guys can pull through with.

Ok, the forum was updated. There are a ton of issues that I am fully aware of. I will be working to resolve them ASAP, so bear with me.

If you would like to post a bug or whatever, go ahead and post it. I'll work on it as soon as I can.

And I love what you guys did with the "home" thing too. Reminds me of the layout on Corvette Forum. Is it going to stay with that same style where it has the articles?
