just bought some stock gm corvette thin 5 spoke c5 rims 17",18" was wondering what if any spacer is needed and some tire options wide as i can go on back was looking at some riken raptors 275/40/17 and same in back but 18s are these a good tire? also is anyone else runing these same wheels gm not aftermarket that can chime in on what they have?
these are going on a 95 trans am
I'm told it would be an 1.25 spacer in the rear . . . I guess U don't need one in the front. I'm kinda trying to figure out the same thing, I just haven't bought the wheels yet. See my thread bellow . . .
P.S. Where in the QC are U? I live in moline and I know I've never seen your car?

some people have had great luck with a direct instal with the c5 rims however i do suggest a small spacer on the rear unless you have an adj. panhard bar to make sure the rear is centered. i suggest this because under "hard" cornering the rears seem to hit the inner fender walls...

i just tnrew mine on the car... i guess its a perk to a camaro over TA... i have 315/35/17s(26in tall) on mine. but they also arent 18s! i know i had 295/40/17(27in tall) MTs on them too and still no rub.
X2 on the adj panhard bar though! centers your rear up and helps you launch straight.

I heard a 1/4 inch is all that is needed in the back but im not for sure. Like phstraton said i just bought mine and im broke right now, but i will be getting tires soon. Ill let you know if i have to do anything to them in order for them to fit.

I test fitted Finnv3's wheels on my car before he bought them. I used washers as spacers and just kept on stacking them until the wheel fit without needing to sand on the axle or inner hub of the wheel. Came out to be 1/4" on my car. You could always sand the wheel hub, but then its cutting it awfully close to the bumpstop. IMO I'd NEVER go much above a 1/4" spacer without getting nice ones from Skulte. I'd get a set of 1/4" Trans-Dapt spacers that sell for $15 on Summit's site. 1" would be WAY too much and put you sticking out the wheelwell. Fronts fitted no problems. For tires, stock C5 vettes use a 245/35/17 front and 275/40/18 rear. Took these wheels to a local tire shop (I'm friends with the manager) and he did some looking and recommended a 245/40/17 front and 275/35/18 rear. I like a little more sidewall than that, so I settled on looking for a 285 or 295/35/18.
I sold them to Finnv3after realizing that I need some 315s for what I want to do :( , a 17 would give me a little more sidewall and DRs are easier to find also.
Hope that helps.

i would use 1/4,3/8 or 5/16.... try to use the smallest spacer you can. if you need the larger size i strongly suggest you swap out the wheel studs for a longer set. i used the set for a 97-99 c5 they are 10mm longer.

I beleive you have been assisted in this, i have had c5 wagon wheels,c5 thin bars and now the c6s...
The ONLY rim that requires a bunch of extra spacing would be the c6s thats the 1.25" spacer/adapters...The other c5 wheels only need 3/8 spacer that will be found at PeP Boys for 7.99 ea. i will suggest you go to the dealer and instal the wheel studs from the c5 out back since they are 10mm longer.
There has been NO guess work in the answers i have given i already know what works properly and safely.....Do purchase anadj. panhard bar to make the rear centered especially if the car is lowered....In addition hub-centric is not mandatory for these small sizes, hell i had 3" on my s10 w/17x11 GS wheels NO HUB-CENTRIC adapters....you will be fine

definately no offense taken,i just want it to be clarified BEFORE you go spending cash on parts......the parts i specified will get you rollin safe and will fill the wells properly.:metal:
EDIT*
i would get the longer studs no matter which wheel spacer you decide to get!
thank you POPO, i know you have done the very same mods!

are the c5 studs stronger because people have told me to go to arp wheel studs for the extra stregh for the spacers moving the stress point
