for 600hp your best bet is going to be a Mcleod Twin disk, pricey but well worth it

I was looking at the spec stage 3. It can take up to 800 ft lbs tq capacity WITH STREETABL DRIVABILITY.

Spec 3's are hit and miss, I have friend's where they've lasted through numerous pulls on 500-600whp nitrous cars, but others where they've smoked the clutch in a couple months on 400whp h/c cars

i have a 2+ from spec. supposed to be good to 650tq and does great on the street. grabs 10 times better than my old one, good enough to keep spinning my M/T drag raidals and then break my rear lol.

McLeod street twin here, very awesome clutch but i also recommend their hydraulics, that makes it kinda pricey. But it will take anything and last for many years

The Street Twin is a great clutch, but you better be BULLETPROOF from the clutch back. My recommendation would be a Spec 3+. Got a LT1 buddy who's got one in a pretty wicked Stroked/Blown Z making 615 to the ground and it's been holding for almost 2 years now, 5K RPM dumps on slicks and all.

My friend has owned 2 spec clutches and both sucked. They have a TON of chatter, fuck that man. Especially if you want to drive a lot around town, it get's annoying really quick.

you could always use a good pressure plate and use a textralia disc. a few guys on ls1tech are using that setup.

im using a centerforce and its going on 2 1/2 years as my DD clutch

My SPEC 2+ is nice, but it does chatter on the street a bit m but grabs better than my RAM. I am happy with it, i got the billet Flywheel too.

I'm happy with my Centerforce DF. DD for 3 years, and has now taken 1.5 seasons (and a 10 bolt!) of 5-5600 clutch drops on ET Streets. No slipping yet! I probably shouldn't have said that!

Only thing we have found to live at that level and be streetable is the Street twin.

We just pulled a working one out with 125K miles on it ;)

I had a Spec 2 in my T/A up until I pulled the motor. I had ZERO chatter, and it grabbed hard enough to bark 4th at WOT on the freeway.

Personally, I feel that a lot of chatter problems come from the installation. If it's not spot on installed, it's going to chatter.

Spec 2 isnt going to have the same chatter as a Spec 3.

I have a Spec 3 and it chattered BAD for the first 1500 miles before I got pissed off at it and just started absolutely whomping on the thing hoping it would blow up so i could get something else. Well that didnt work cause turns out that set it into place and it started working a LOT better. My spec 3 still has some chatter but Ive found you have understand the clutch's personality. You shouldnt be putting a puck clutch in a vehicle that you want to drive like stock IMO. They need to have pressure on them to work correctly... Either IN or OUT, specs do not like playing tiddlywinks in between like a stock clutch is designed to handle.

Mine also chirps 4th and it shifts smooth as butter when hammering on it WOT.

wow, didnt know you could use that in an LT1!

I've had a RAM in my car for almost 3 years now and still going strong. I need to go ahead and step up to a Spec 3 with the nitrous, but haven't. I've been really surprised by how well mine has held up. Its had quite a bit of abuse. I didn't see what all mods you had, but the RAM would be pretty good for someone who wants a stockish pedal feel with a bolt-on car.

/EDIT

Saw you need it for 600 HP. Forget all that RAM talk. Don't waste your money.

That's exactly what my friend did. It was pretty bad and I know he put it in fine, he's done clutches plenty of times perfectly.

What about the Ram powergrip HD? I have just the powergrip and it is holding good. If I was you I would step up to the Street twin if you have the dough.

I would be that buddy. FWIW, mine is only a stage 3 (not a 3+).

My friend has owned 2 spec clutches and both sucked. They have a TON of chatter, fuck that man. Especially if you want to drive a lot around town, it get's annoying really quick.

I have done a lot of research on SPEC's and talked with them on numerous occasions. I will say having 2 different SPEC clutches, that the old style ones were MUCH worse with chatter and issues than the new ones.

Talking with the tech guys at SPEC, the new ones that came out about 6 months ago are even better and hold even more power without stepping up to some of the more agressive ones (like the 3+ and the 4).

The new stage 3's will hold 750 RWTQ (thats right, the 3, not the 3+). When my stage 3 (which was not rated at that power level for the version I bought) does go out, I will be replacing it with a new stage 3.

Simply put, hands down you will not find another clutch that will hold that power level for the price of a SPEC clutch. If you get a new one, and break it in per the criterea of SPEC (500 in town miles with no WOT), then you will find it is an awesome clutch for both the street and track.

You can always go with a twin disc, but be ready to fork out the big $, and the PITA of driving with it on the street that comes with it.

I had a spec stage 2 in my 93' notch stang. It had a bit of chatter at first but after it broke in it cleared up.

spec stage 3 here. no problems yet. had it for 4/5 years. not making as much power as the rest of these guys, but its a lot more drivable then the stage 4 i had before it.
