View Full Version : So who in here has the rarest factory F-body?

CALL911

Just wondering who from this website has the rarest F-body? I have a fairly rare LS1 Formula WS6. From what I know there were only around 200 built between 1998-2000. They didn't make any in 2001 or 2002. But I know I don't come close to winning, as I know Transamman has a Comp T/A (1 of 72 made).

What does everyone that is rare? Who has the most rare?

Not quite only 200, but I just found this for the "Bird" folks:

In 96 there were 524 Formula WS6s 124 red ones But that includes all A4/M6s hardtops/verts/ t-tops with both cloth and leather interiors.

There is probably less than 50 of my car. Hardtop cloth with a 6spd. So its very rare.

I guess its not quite as rare as I was led to believe. Still not a model you'd see everyday though.

I didn't start this thread for (I am rare because I have a power antenna in green with a hardtop, yeah, they didn't make many of those).

More so of models like the Hurst edition ect. Who has the rarest?

Here is one:

I will try to find the one i found years ago that broke it down further (color, trans, etc). I do know that in 1993 17,850 Z28's were made, with 11136 of them being red like mine. Only 4080 Z's had t56's

It's hard to compare rareness without defining it.

There's some people who consider their Gold '98 Camaro's rare. Are we talking rareness on the basis of trim levels? color? transmission? roof type?

The main point is to by the car you want, not based on how rare it is. There are very few Camaro's I'd consider a "collectors item."

While my camaro is "fairly rare," I'm quite proud of the fact that it has been driven and enjoyed by 4 owners over the past 12 years and 152,000+ miles.

This thread wasn't created for basis of purchasing, it was made for what the title says, "So who in here has the rarest F-body". And then to define that I stated in the first post for it to be model, not really color and transmission type. I gave examples as well, as in my LS1 Formula WS6 (note I didn't go into detail about transmission, T-Tops, color ect.). Thats more or less what I wanted.

I've actually mentioned this a few times throughout this thread beyond the ORIGINAL FIRST POST, but I think I have been ignored by some probably just seeing the title and then jumping in without reading anything. Not really a big deal I guess, but it is a little annoying. :dots:

What does everyone have that is rare? Who has the most rare?
I have a 1997 Camaro SS. I do not consider it to be the most rare f-body of the members on this website.

Per SLP:
1997 Camaro SS (3038 total, 2892 LT1)
306 White (not including 30th SS's)
182 White w/ t-tops
124 White w/ t-tops and manual transmission

I could break it down by SLP options as well but didn't feel like looking up those numbers again (had a document with them, lost it). I believe roughly 50 1997 SS's had the engine oil cooler package (mine included)

A few random rare f-bodys for you:
1993 Firehawks - 201
1994 Firehawks - 500 (I know a guy with 2)
1997 Firehawks (LT4) - 29
1996 - 55 1LE
1996 - 225 B4C

I have never been able to find production numbers but of the 2,410 total ss built in 96 (verts and coupes) i would think a fairly base model white hardtop with tan leather and non-performance exhaust was fairly rare.

just found this and if my math is right it is 1 of 10 or so. no exhaust, no oil cooler, hard top, 6 speed, non torsen if those numbers are right.

White = 370 or 16.35 %
Teal = 77 or 3.40 %
Black = 818 or 36.15 %
Polo Green = 167 or 7.38 %
Red = 831 or 36.72 %
T-Tops = 1309 or 57.84 %
Coupe = 690 or 30.49 %
Convertible = 264 or 11.67 %
Automatic = 767 or 33.89 %
6-Speed = 1496 or 66.11 %
Exhaust = 2072 or 91.56 %
Torsen = 1263 or 55.81 %
Suspension = 905 or 39.99 %
Hurst Shifter = 1354 or 90.51 % (of 6-spd cars)

Oil Cooler = 286 or 12.64 % (option became available late in year around march)
Floor Mats = 1947 or 86.03 %
Car Cover = 1221 or 53.95 %
R1 Tires = 93 or 4.11 %
Syn. Lubes = 321 or 14.18 % (remember, this was included at no charge with the Torsen)

As for the thread, I think Transsaman takes the cake with his Comp/TA. No one else in here has proven they have a model that is more rare. I really could care less on the color or options. Just purely based upon model or style.

Everyone else has pretty much turned the thread into what they wanted, and thats fine as I'm glad I could provide it for whatever it has turned into. I got what I wanted out of it.

I wouldn't count those same as I wouldn't count the Blackbirds. Those were dealer collaboration vehicles.......uncommon yes, but not a GM optioned car. GM didn't partner to make those cars, the dealers did. GM Partnered to do the Hawks, Hurst T/A (Now THAT is a rare 4th Gen), Comp T/A's, ect.

Transamans is probably the rarest on the site, but there were only 524 Formula WS6s in 96. So it may just be in the top few rarest LT1s on the site.

Yeah, but read the title of the thread. It is to find out who has the rarest F-body on the board. Not "what is the rarest F-body".

True, but the rest of the thread is a bunch of mumbo jumbo about other cars not even on the board either.

My car is as common as it gets. Polo Green, tan interior, auto, ttops.

:)

It has made it 211k though.

The thread was still intended to find the rarest F-body owner of this board.

just found this and if my math is right it is 1 of 10 or so. no exhaust, no oil cooler, hard top, 6 speed, non torsen if those numbers are right.
I know a guy with a base model '96 SS, and he was talking about how his was pretty rare because basically the only SLP option it had was the synthetics package which people typically only ordered on fully loaded SS's.

Mine on the other hand was pretty fully loaded from the factory. 2otl, torsen, synthetics, oil cooler, etc.

Ok, this thread has gone the way of pointless. The intent of the thread was to find out who ON HERE has the rarest F-Body. This one is done.
