Hey everyone, I'm looking for an LT1 block...bare.
I'd prefer decent miles (<150K) and in good, usable condition.
I'd like to pick up a block within 150 miles of the Quad Cities metro area. I'm also looking to spend $200 or less. Let me know......
Need it soon!
Note: Edited due to me being a PITA.

wow, looking for a used block..... $150 or less..... and you want someone to send it to a machine shop for an inspection with paperwork....
Hardly sounds worth it for anyone to go through the hassel of selling to you. I am sorry, just want you know that for the coin you are offering, you are too demanding.

Same here.
I have one that you can have for $125 + shipping. No inspection. Has a spun bearing and has all the rotating assembly.

Thanks for the thought Huff. Shipping is something I'm not looking to pay for.
I did get a PM awhile ago from someone with a 50K block in good shape that he wanted $250 for, within a 2 hour driving distance from me. I told him it was too much money. I'm beginning to think I was wrong. Anyone think I should get back to him and pick that one up?
I'm used to blocks being cheap...you know, standard SBC blocks and BBC blocks. I guess I didn't realize LT1's were at that much of a premium.
Sorry I'm being so picky, it's just that it would suck terribly bad to put ~5K into a 396 build and have the block fail on me due to an unforseen problem with the block I purchased.

If your stuck on a lower mile block then I think 50k is about as low as your going to get it. But I wouldnt see how miles would really matter if you are going to build it anyways. IMO. I'd just go out and buy a 100k+ mile block and go from there. I paid $125 for mine and picked it up. Before I was going to be paying $200 for one with over 100k miles but had a rotating assembly (that would have been worthless to me). If I were you and was stuck on the low mile part I'd get that one that you already passed up.

there is no reason you should have 5k invested into a block that was no good. Anyone who builds a motor, sends the block to the machine shop... unless everything is bran new and even then, unless you can do the machining... you gotta send it out....
