Hey all, need help choosing some wheels and tires. I'm definitely wanting these: http://www.finishlinewheels.com/specials/1,CHEVY+CORVETTE/906,NEW+C5+Ultra+Deep+Dish+Rims++%28C5+ZO6+Sizes%2 9/
They are a staggered 17X9.5, 18X10.5 setup.
1) I don't want to have to roll fenders or modify in any way. I don't want to have to use spacers. I don't want these to be too far inboard on the car, nor do I want them to stick out too much. Anyone ever use these or know anyone that has? How's the fitment?
2) I need help with tire sizing and recommendation of model for these wheels. I'd like to run something soft and STICKY in the rear (probably Nitto's or something of the sort). I'm aware that I won't get a whole lot of miles out of the rears, I'm expecting to replace them about every 1.5 seasons. (car is only driven in late spring, summer, early fall)
I'd like something nice in the front, preferably same brand, maybe Nitto 555's. Hoping to get about 30,000 miles or better on the fronts.
I'm looking to buy this winter while I prepare to start my drivetrain build.
Any and all thoughts (constructive) are appreciated. Thanks!

First off OE Wheels has the same set, only cheaper. I have bought my rims from them and I highly reccommned them:

The fronts should be fine with 275 tire on them and sit nicley
The rears would use a 295 or 305 tire and should be fine on a stock height car. If you lower the car you need to probally mod the rear wells a bit. Check over at LS1tech (sorry guys) in the wheels and tire section. A lot of ppl are running similar setups.

Lowering any height will need rear fenderwell modification? I was thinking about 1" lowering......

+1 for OE wheels.
Toyo Proxes TQ's are a pretty nice rear tire. They are pretty soft and have a little more thread to them then the Nitto 555r's

I found this information:
18"x10.5" +50 to +53 mm. Higher than 53 mm will require the BFH mod. 285/35R18s thru 315/30R18. Over 295 may require rolling the fenderlip and will need the BFH.
I am runnning a 17x11 w+50mm offset (315 wide tire). I am lowered 1.5 inches and had to roll the lips and center the rear with an adj. panhard.

I wouldn't know the first thing about rolling the fenders/BFH. I read some stuff on LS1tech about 17/17 setups and 18/18 setups, or going with an 18X9.5 in the rear instead of having to modify fenders.
Supposedly the C5's in chrome will be available Feb. 2010?

I'm still interested in the set from OEWheels. JaysZ2893, What do you think about the setup from my original post, with 275's in front and 295's out back? If I have to roll the fender lip a bit, I can deal with that.
I'm still not wanting to do spacers or BFH (whatever that is. Call me a newb...) if I can get away with it.
What profile should I go with for these? Front 275/35?/17 , Rear 295/30?/18 ?

the offset of the rear wheel is what will cause problems. Even with a 295/35/18 (26.1 inch tall) tire you may rub becasue the offset of the wheel you are interested in is +56mm. The fronts you will want is 275/40/17 (25.6 inch tall tire) and you will be fine there.
BFH = Big F@#King Hammer. You would need to beat in the little spots in the rear fenderwell that may contact the tire. I really cant tell you where becasue i didnt have to do it. Rolling the fender is pretty straight forward. Here is a site with instructions:

I've decided that I'm not into the idea of rolling the fender lips or the BFH mod..I just can't bring myself to mutilate my car
Check these out above. I think the non-staggered 17X9.5 would be alright. Does anyone know if these will fit with a 1" lowered car, NO body mods?

should fit fine with a 275/40/17 all around. SS cars came wit that size wheel/tire stick IIRC
