Sketchy RPMS at WOT

So I was going over my log of my last run at the track. I find out that the reason i did so crappy was due to a fuel pressure issue. That may not be the only issue though. I'm going over the log in datamaster and I'm looking at the graph (normally i export to excel) and i see the RPMs look like an etch a sketch line. it increases but real sketchy. for example it will climb the rpm range then drop like 25rpm hold then increase then maybe hold increase then drop and so on on. it looks like a bunch of little mountain peaks. what could that be?

Mine did this the other night at the track. Pretty sure mine is a plug issue.

I'm interested in what others think...

as i got into 3rd gear (a4) it got a little more sketchy. no more than a 150 rpm drop though.

When does it start to vary? At high rpm or all throughout? If it starts to get really scretchy up high like 5000+ it could be the famous opti on it's way out.
