My insurance just sky-rocketed from $580 a year to over $1500 a year... what the hell? I got ONE speeding ticket over a year and half ago and they just now decide to raise it. 93 in a 65 and I've never been in any accidents or had any other violations and have not done anything since that ticket. Is this right? I can't believe it would go up that much especially since it was my first and only violation. I understand I'm only 21 and they will be discriminate about that, but I wasn't even in my car when I got the ticket, I was in my dads Yukon on the turnpike traveling from Pittsburgh. I'm so pissed, I wish there was something I could do about this. It seems like they just want some more money and decided to double my rate... bullshit

was it just speeding or was it a c&i? if it was just speeding it looks like someone at your insurance office needs to put someone through school or is wanting a family vacation.
this is why i get a lawyer no matter what.

I would call them and let them know that ......(insert insurance company name here) is willing to provide identical coverage for the price you are paying and give them a chance to change your rate. I did this with my insurance company and they didn't budge. when I went in the office to cancell and demand my refund they gave in. I agree someone is trying to rip you off.

I will probably shop around, the only problem is that I'm still under 25 and on the same policy with my dad still. So if I branch out on my own at 21 years with the car that I have, I may end up paying the same or more by myself. I guess I will also have to note that I drive the brand new Ram with a hemi, 4x4 etc... At the very least though I will have to call and bitch and maybe threaten to leave even if I have no intention to lol

my question to you is :with a clean record why the hell didnt you get a good lawyer and get out of it? I cant understand if it was your first offense you didnt get out of it all together,,ive had several offenses over the years and just a couple years ago i got a 117 in a 65 and careless and reckless,,they were gonna take me to jail but didnt ,,i paid a lawyer 500 bucks and never heard another word about it,money well spent if ya ask me
..something to remember::lawyer fee is never as high as potential insurance fees
also once you hit a certain mph in most states it also gets a careless and reckless charge which is usually 4 points

I had no idea this was going to happen. Like I said, I got the ticket over a year and half ago and I'm just now getting nailed... I thought I was getting away with it til now.

i dont know this for fact but my buddy works for allstate and he has told me that alot of insurance companys only do annual reviews for stuff like that so that could explain why it took so long ,,,if you get convicted of it though you should probably know that its gonna get ya eventually

I do have Allstate, so maybe that's the reason why it took so long. But damn near 1000 dollar increase for ONE ticket THAT long ago, with no priors and nothing since the ticket? Come on now, thats just bullshit. Think it would be any use getting a lawyer involved now, or is it too late?

with your age, type of car,and nature of ticket id say 1000 increase isnt that abnormal....i sure wish you woulda got some better advice when this first happened ,,wouldnt be having this conversation right now,,im not 100% sure about the "lawyer now",,,i would say since you were convicted of the charge theres no going back now..a lawyer wouldve got the charge reduced or dropped all together originally..you can probably def shop around and find some not so good coverage from a smaller type insurance company to save a few bucks but other than that im not sure,,sorry,,,good luck

I will have to at least call and complain on my own. Probably bring up the fact that I wasn't even in my "sports car" for the ticket and never been in trouble before. Thanks for all the suggestions though.
