what is the differance between a waste gate, a blow off valve, and a bypass valve. im getting them all mixed up. thanks

A waste gate controls your boost pressure on the exhaust hot side

A bypass valve is the same as a bov but recirculates the air back into the intake ( Correct me if I am wrong I am not to sure )

A Bov Vents Boost pressure to air when the throttle closes

Close...

A bypass valve is open if vacuum is present, it can vent to atmosphere, or be set up to recirculate. A BOV only vents when there is a high enough vacuum present to open the BOV. Both vent the excess boost pressure once the throttle is closed.

I run a Turbosmart Bypass Valve on my car. It is also a BOV depending on the stiffness of the spring being used. I had to order the centrifugal spring that is much softer then the BOV spring which allows the valve to be open at idle and part throttle.

In simple terms a supercharged vehicle uses a bypass valve, a turbo vehicle uses a BOV. The basic reason is a supercharger will move more air at idle and part throttle than a turbocharger because it's driven by a belt whereas a turbo relies on exhaust to spin the turbo and must "spool" to build boost.

I hope that explanation made sense.
