wiring noob needs help

the light on my trans temp gauge doesn't work yet because i haven't hooked up the light to a 12v switched source. i want it to come on with the parking lights or headlights... which wire should I splice? should I splice these wires? i don't know dick about wiring, so a little help would be appreciated... THANKS!

is it ok to just plug it into the ignition spot in the fuse panel in the car? i did that and it's on now whenever the ignition is in the on position. this shouldn't harm anything right?

That should work for you. Its going to be alot better getting a connector and running it through the fuse box rather than splicing wires for it. As long as its shutting off and coming on with the ignition, I don't see where there would be a problem with it.
