had my car almost 5 years... just got it painted and done, i was doing my exhaust last night and got it all bolted up, so i took it off the stands, i was down to 1 16 ton stand half way up and thats all that was under the front driverside holding that corner up. well i jack it up about 1/4" above the stand and kick the stand out and i heard a pop not loud so i just didnt let it bother me. went to the mailbox today and got my tags WOOHOO! threw the rear plate on there, then walked to the front and tossed the second one on the dash between the windshield... ( anyone that know me knows i have been tryin to better myself and ease off the cursing) i look down and "WHAT THE FUCKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!" my dash that has 151k iles on it and was ALWAYS prettier than everyone else's has a freakin 7" crack in it :cry::cry::cry::cry: turns out that loud pop was my dash getting bound up :( so looks like ill be spending another 400 on it to get it to look good again and put some subframes under it. my day has been terrible, home sick from work, doc apptment at 3:30 and NOW THIS! anyone have a good one they want to unload?

Is it just the dash pad??? I sold one last year on a 2000 SS for $75 that was in near perfect condition (the dash pad at least).

Got any pics of the damage?

Yeah just the pad...it's 230 and some change at the stealership for me. Larry if you get it I would like to buy it. I found a few used pads but I would really rather buy it from someone I trust. I'll get pics tomorrow :(

EDIT: ca. You pm me a price Larry

Aren't these things a royal pain to replace?

Yikes. Mine doesn't have any cracks yet, just one bald spot right in the center. It bugs me a little but not too bad.

Maybe things will start looking better for ya man.

^^ you know it cracked because its old and brittle from the sun,,why fix it just for it to crack again?so easy to just snap a brand new piece in and not worry about it.i got mine back when they were a little cheaper from gmpartsdirect,,140 shipped

i wonder if thats why mine cracked, i got it back from getting it painted about 2 months ago and noticed this hairline starting right at the windshield then it went right to the vent in the middle. just struck me as odd seeing as how it was fine before i gave it to the guy, but what did he do to crack it?
is it really that easy, just snap it in and go or does this involve a little more work involving taking the whole dash out?

its easy putting it in, take the two side molding off the ones that lead up to the ttops and then the dash pad just pulls right out atleast mine did it had some velcrow holding it down.
