View Full Version : Blown lt1 vs stock c5 zo6

Hey My dad has been talking a lot of smack about how a stock c5 zo6 would kill my car and he is getting one in a week. I know the zo6 is very fast and light but do you think it be faster then my car. I only have 5psi from the blower.
A stock Z06 could dyno 350-360 rwhp and a lightly boosted LT1 could dyno anywhere from 360-400 I assume. But with his weight being an advantage I think it will be a decent race on the low end but up top he will put up a good fight...

does everyone agree that I might be able to beat him

If you dont '60 him EXTREMELY hard, he will catch you and pass you.
You better be on slicks and jump out on his ass hard to beat him, and then yes I think you have a good chance.
Those cars are bottom 12 cars usually, a few very very good drivers have put them into the high 11's bone stock with some drag radials, so they are no slouch.
But the average driver in a bone stock car is gonna run mid / high 12's, especially on the street.
60' him and if there is a difference in your cars, it probably wont be enough to catch you if you put 3-4 cars on him out of the gate.
Top end is where he will have the definite advantage.

ok what if we run from about 35? it going to be the first day he gets the car so it will be new to him
If your car traps at least 115 theres a good chance you'll have him beat.
Keep in mind this is if you're only going to run to trap speeds. Not one of these 150mph runs, because I'm sure he would pull you up top for sure. Aerodynamics are a bitch.

my buddy has one and it runs 12.6-12.8s and trapps about 114.
You should be able to take him in the 1/4th but he will walk you top end when your out of gear

I have 5 lbs on my LT1 one and I was neck and neck on a 55mph roll with a GSXR 1000 so I believe that you can do it.

not gonna happen unless this was a late 90s bike. Newer 1000s run in the 130mph trap speed and up. 5psi will not net that kind of speed

I think it was a 2008 GSXR 1000RR bone stock. The guy said he was real close to maxing it out. We were shifting at 5600 and we had the meth injection on. It was only a 4 second race cause there was some traffic. If we go riding with him again I will take a camera along. Also we beat a LS1 GTO when we were missing on 2 cylinders. We were winning until 130 MPH and then the engine died but I have that on video.

08 GSRX 1000s run 140mph BONE STOCK in the 1/4, you should probably give up this argument right now

It's wasn't a standing start and it was rolling start and also I don't know what gear he was in. I ask him. But I am just telling you what I saw, not lying at all. Race was very short.

The fact that it wasn't a standing start legitimizes my statement even further as launching a bike is the most difficult parts of running it.
This bike weighs about 650-700lbs with rider and makes about 130-140hp so unless this guy cant ride or left it in 6th gear, your vortech V1 lt1 (which is one of the weakest blowers for an lt1) with 5psi is not going to legitimately keep up with even a newer 600 let alone a 1000.

As I said it was a VERY short race. 55-80 mph we didn't even change gears. So I don't know if you would consider it a race or not but it was neck and neck. However, I agree that if there was more room it wouldn't keep up but it still will have lots of torque and I think it will do very well with a C5

This guy launched the bike HORRIBLE and was his first time at the track and he still pulled a 10.8 @ 137.

I completely agree that this car has absolutely has no chance with a newer 1000cc bike. But I think you were about 30 shy on your guess. The big bikes dyno 165-175 depending on the air quality. Most 750's are in the 135-140 range and 600's are lucky to see 110-115 on a good day.
A 55 mph roll for a 1000cc bike would easily be in 1st gear, and at 55mph, that would put him at a perfect rpm for a roll race. The newer thousands will go over 100mph in first gear btw.
IMO, this isn't even an argument. More of a misunderstanding of what happened in the few seconds they were toying with eachother down the interstate.

Must say I have waxed more than a few bikes that didnt down shift enough.
At 65 I would slam to into 2nd WOT then power shift the shit out of the car. By the time I hit 130ish they start coming back around and I slow down! lol! They just dont expect a car to launch that hard at 65.
With that said a talented rider would whoop me the entire race.

I know more than a handful stock newer 600s around me in the 120-125mph trap.
At most they have a filter/exhaust/pc but most of them are stock

I was talkin horse power guy. My old 600 went 126 all day long, and the new one should go 130ish all stock.

We all know bikes are fast and hard to beat. I know my car can't beat a 600. But Im racing a 02 zo6. I get to pick the race. Is there a good speed that we could start at that would be make the zo6 bog or have to shift soon. I have 4.10s so i was thinking 35mph in second and i would ba at ~3500rpm

Here are the races. this was the first time i took my car to the track with the 5 psi and it was running so rich that my wide band only goes to 10.0 afr and it just stayed there untill later in the night when it cooled down it leaned out just a little to 10.6 AFR. my dad couldn't get the tires to stop spinning. ha ha he just skated down the track. I think his best time for the night was 13.1 at 111.9 mph and mine was 13.3 at 109 mph. we one got to race each other once but here are all our races through out the night.
