As many of you had read, my original motor was built by PARISH ENTERPRISES. If you are not familiar with the story, check it out.

ANyways, along with the headache of the garbage motor he built me, the cam was supposedly a "custom grind" for a blower application. Initially I did not question him and allowed him to keep his "secret squirrel" specs to himself.

Now that I have found him and am being rather forceful with him on other matters, I demanded my cam specs since I reused the same cam on the GOOD rebuild. (it was lumpy and I liked its sound)

Either way, I finaly got cam specs from him (although he is not sure which one he used) can someone who understands this stuff tell me, is this an OK cam for my boosted application....

"The cam specs are either 230/236@.050 (http://us.mc458.mail.yahoo.com/mc/compose?to=230/236@.050), .544/.555 with 1.6 rockers, or 234/242@.050 (http://us.mc458.mail.yahoo.com/mc/compose?to=234/242@.050), .574/.596 with 1.6 rockers, both 114lsa... Im almost sure it is the bigger cam but im trying to find out for sure."

Neither of them is what I would call 'great' for a blower cam. Especially not the first one. But they'll both work, it's not like putting one in with a blwoer on top is gonna cause some kinda meltdown. :P

If you've got 300 bucks to spend on what could possibly be the most important part of your build in terms of power production/street manners, I'd get a custom grind either from Comp, or from LE or AI.

No problemo. :)

Generally when looking for a good blower cam, you want two things (IMO): Large LSA, and highly favored exhaust numbers. That's why the second one wouldn't be absolutely horrible. But I'd be looking for something in the 116 LSA area, and a good 12 degree split Intake to Exhaust (Depending on overall size of cam). But that second cam is still pretty big, even with a blower. Got any idle videos? :) If that's what's in it, I bet she sounds like all hell! :D

So you got either a 230/236 Comp cam or a GM847 it looks like. Either will work (my blower cam was specced to 234/244 .610/.610 110* LSA) just fine. They won't be hindering you if that's what you're worried about.

Thats exactly what my concern was... thank you!

Ive caught up on your story behind the Parish motor. Sorry to hear what happened. Sucks real bad. But knowing that you could have a better cam for your build, now that you have to do that over again, I would suggest getting with Lloyd Elliott or the guys over at Advance Inductions to get you the right cam for what you want. You could sell the cam you have now and have the right one for sure that you know will make the motor work how it should. Forced Induction cams are spec'd differently then N/A cams. (im sure you know that) Those specs that you listed resemble alot of the popular N/A cams, the bigger one being the same exact cam I have in my motor. Goodluck with whatever you decide to do.

Later,
Harold

i would just call the company who cuts the cams for lloyd elliot or ai.... like say...
bullet racing... seeing as how if you order a 400 dollar cam from ai, they send you a bullet cam.... i called bullet and got the same ai cam for 75 bucks less...

I decided to get you guys a quick walk around and idle vid of the car. I realy am not ready to do a cam swap right now.... but this winter will be a dif story if the consenses I could do much better and keep the car DD status...

This is the manager at the shop (KNOPPS PERFORMANCE) where I "hang out" alot.

His 88 Iroc is not an LTX based vehicle but with a 414ci small block Chevy with a 700 lift solid roller and so much more, I figured it deserved a quick WALK AROUND VIDEO

Dude, that cam is hitting HARD! What's your CR? 8.8:1 for mine and sounds nothing like that but I'm also running a 4" exh too but she's mild compared how yours sounds.

What kinda power is your car making with 22 lbs of boost.

Don't know you as the dyno has been alluding me for years. Supposedly I'll be hitting it in the next month or so. I imagine somewhere in mid 700 range but I'm not really concerned w/ peak numbers.

Drives like stock until you begin to roll on the throttle. :D Don't even think about punching it at any speed under 100mph.
