I was out with a buddy on his boat yesterday. We were cruising down the river just having fun wher we hit something in the water or a large wake( not sure which). Well I was sitting near the front and I lost my balance and went face first in to the bow of the boat. My nose was broken in three places and needed nine stitches. I also have a minor cut in my eyebrow. I posted a few pics up on my facebook (http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/p...49578&ref=name (http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/profile.php?id=1360549578&ref=name) ) and this son of a bitch has been blowing up my phone all morning with how It was my fault and he was only driving 10 MPH. He has refused to give me his insurance information to pay for my ER visit and told me its just a flesh wound and to stop making it sound worse than it is. I have known this kid since highschool, but all I want to do is go beat his face in right now. What an asshole. Am I being over dramatic and ranting or what? Your opinions please.

Why should he take the insurance hit/deductable for your faceplant.....especially if you're friends and he was cool enough to take you out on his boat?

Is the title in reference to your buddy....or your failure to have a sense of personal responsibility? (Posting your business on the internet) I know that none of the boatguys in my circle of trust would air our business on the net.

i kinda think your blowing it out of the water a bit.

" We were cruising down the river just having fun when* we hit something in the water or a large wake( not sure which)"

it wasn't intentional. drink a beer with the guy and push the water under the bridge. i've grown up on boats and shit happens that no one can predict. either wakes, debris or other people on the water . it would be like me water skiing, falling, getting hurt and trying to make the guy driving pay the bill. now, if i'm skiing and get hit by another boater not paying attention... i'll make sure the court gives me his boat. like i said, drink a beer ( not on the boat) and let it go

edit: get well soon

Nobody's fault, but if you want to technical, you voluntarily got on the boat, therefore putting yourself at risk for injury. It's not his fault. Deal with the nose, and call him over for a beer as stated.

I didn't mean to sound so harsh. I just feel he was more concerned with the boat then what happened to me. As far as the insurance He was a passenger in a buddys car that was in an accident and used his car insurance to go to the hospital because he got a big knot on his head. I know if someone was in my car and I hit something My insurance would pick it up. I just feel he could have been more responsible. I was pissed because when we got to the hospital the nurse wanted to make a police report against him because he looked drunk. God honest truth there was no alchohol involved. I told the nurse that and defended him. Then he tried to make it sound like I did something to cause my self to get hurt. I had his back now it seems like I'm getting the shaft. I understand it was an accident. I just thought that was why people had insurance was for accidents.

I would be pissed that he was trying to put blame on you. If this were me I would expect things to go like this:

Friend: Oh shit! You okay man! I'm really sorry!

Me: No, don't worry about it, it was an accident. Got something to stop the bleeding? I'll lean over the side so as not to cause a mess.

I'm with you on this one. Your friend is taking the responsibility of your health into his own hands when inviting you on his boat. If you did not have health insurance, I could see you trying to go after him. But if you have insurance, see if he'll split whatever co-pay/deductible you have to pay.
