your f-body? I would like to know how you feel owning it,driving it etc?

I will start, i have always loved camaros well since i was about 5 yrs old. Always thought they had a very nice look very well rounded car! They became an addiction for me due to the parts availability, various motor choices wheel and tire combos that really set the body off. All in all my 35 years of a mutual respect for one of the sexiest cars to run the streets.

Through the years i have become more attatched to the 67-69,70-73,78-81 and 85-92 gotta have GFX and a 5.7 TPI chevrolet had the market cornered with the style of the thirdgen had they have offered the 5.7 w/ a manual it would have absolutely revolutionized the industry stock for stock a mustang 5.0 5spd vs my bone stock 5.7 w/my 5 spd installed killed the mustang by bus lengths! The car would hit corners so smooth and controlled. it raised the eye-brows of many vette owners..undoubtably the best handling f-body generation made.
Now when the 4th gen came out i was truely unsure of the new look,my first words at the dealership was oh my goodness its a GEO STORM on steroids!it took many years to adapt to the style and NO GFX!!!!!
Now everyday i look at my Z i think of how sweet they look and the performance is right there thanks to the many bolt ons available ;)
the ease of tunning, drivability with big mods just makes it the total package! Lastly, i must express my feelings towards the 2010 Camaro this car was awesome to see last year at SEMA the looks are awesome in my book cant say anything bad about the car with the exception of the taillights....Off the floor it will not give the avg modded Lt1 any trouble but once the mods begin the true power and potential come out with a vengence!

When i was 17 first looking for cars i wanted a late 80's Monte. Browsing around autotrader and local dealerships i happen to come across a 87 Firebird that i couldnt stop staring at. Was that metallic blue of the 3rd gens and it looked great! Bought it and loved the way it looked and how it made me feel on those fall days with the ttops off and just cruising. Well after that i was hooked on fbodies. Anything and everything i could do or learn about them i did. Since then ive owned 2 more a 96 RS that i recently parted out and now my 94. The feeling i get when i drive it is like no other. Knowing that i bought it with my money and modded it on my own is a great feeling. Just love everything about fbodies.

When I turned 16 I got a 1992 Bird (bran-new) and I loved it.... I hung out with guys who had early 70's camaros and they were fast!!! well 12's was fast back then in high school.

Anyways, I went to the POlice Academy in 2000 and I decided to sell the bird. SHe had 178,000+ miles on it (bought it with 14 miles). I figured I was gona be a cop and that car was gonna get me in trouble... Plus at the time I had my 1997 YZF600, to go fast on.....

ANyways, I graduated, I got hired, and I realized that the 600 wasnt fast enough so I bought my ZX-12R... NOW THAT WAS FAST, but...... I couldnt exactly ride it to court, or do stuff where I needed to remain clean.... hot days with a hot bike under you spells out swamp-ass and pit stains.... I decided it was time for another BIRD.

I looked High and Low for a 1993-1997 Trans-Am, but they were more than I wanted to spend... especially knowing I was gona redo the motor in the future, and I knew that would itself cost alot of money....

THen one night, on patrol (my township is only 6 sq miles) I saw this 1996 camaro for sale... It had always caught my attention because it had CHROME SALAD SHOOTERS and I had NEVER seen them before... It was the first night it was for sale, and I called the owner at 930 at night.
http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k110/popo08/100_0304.jpg

I asked him what was wrong with it.... he told me they were having another kid and needed to get a minivan. I told him I was outside parked next to it and asked him if I could see it... He came outside and found me and my crusier parked next to it...

First words outta his mouth were "I better not try to rip you off". we laughed, and I bought it. I wrote him a check for it and met him the following day to transfer it.

ANd now it is what it is today....

PS-when the new camaros came out in 93 , I also thought they looked like a GEO STORM, but rather than one on steroids, I thought it looked like someone stepped on one and made it squish outward...

Well, all my buddies were getting mustangs and I wanted something faster. lol. I always liked trans ams and ended up with a 94 formula which seemed to start falling apart the longer I drove it (paint, transmission, low oil pressure). I then found my car I drive now on a local forum for 1300 with a busted tranny and bought it and sold the firebird to pay for it. I now have around 2500 in the car and am shooting for 12s for under 3000 bux.

My dad has always been a chevy person, his first car was 63 chevy II with a 250 straight 6 and would out run just about any stock v-8 car. So, naturally, I'm a die hard chevy guy, (though I have a GMC and a Pontiac:hmm:), and about 2 1/2 years ago I ad to get a car with a v-8, since my buddies at the time had a 02 gt vert, and a 94 sonoma with a 305 and a t-5. Came really close to getting a white 91 350 TPI car for $1000, but my dad talked me out of it and I sat down and made a chart and decided to go with a 93-97 f-body and it had to have a 6 speed, and green was a plus. So I ended up finding this car, and it needed to be 'saved' in a way. I didn't get the best deal on it, $3800, but I've loved driving it since day one. I've never walked away from it and not looked back at it at least twice, and feel better everytime I get into it and start it up. nothing beats the feeling when you can just drive the car how you want, all the little things about it that annoy you, and make it im-perfect just all go away the moment you put the right pedal down and hear the music from under the hood and go through the gears, and think, I love my car.

Mine's not nearly as emotional as some of yours. I have always loved Camaros, 69 is my year by FAR. I was actually in the market for a lsx SS or a 69 SS or Z28. I found a project 69 SS, had a 427 with a TH350, blue with the white stripes . My dream car. It was $12.5k with 30k miles on it. I waited too long and it sold, found a 99 SS with 33k miles on it for $11k but I didn't want to drive 3 hours to go look at it. I waited a couple more months, searched, and found my current car. It was too nice to pass up, 1995 with 17k miles on it, the guy wanted $14k and I wasn't going to low ball him so I said $13k and he took it. Gave me EVERYTHING that he had originally for the car, too. I look back and add up how much I've spent on the car total, including the car.... almost $25k worth invested in it. Is it worth that money? Hell yes.

Always went to the track with my Dad when I was a kid and always loved the firebirds the best. I graduated HS and started work ASAP and needed a good car. My dad said he would co sign and I wanted a new Firebird, He said hell no....but as soon as we got to the dealer and he saw the car he also fell in love and we bought a brand new black 96 v6 bird. Well within a year I traded it for a brand new 97 Formula M6 and the mods began.... Well I blew that car up and had some bad body damage within 2 weeks, so I traded it for a new 00 Formula LS1 but never felt the same about the LS1. I sold it and raced snowmobiles for a few years untill I came across a very mint low mile 96 Formula WS6 M6 (wich was always my dream car) and had to have it. So I bought it and the mods began!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now its a bad mofo!!!!!

wow, these are awesome stories guys!!

well, i grew up around 2 67 camaros, one a numbers matching RS vert and the other an SS with a 396 out of a pontiac 2+2...i guess you could say i was born under a car because my dad would always take my little bro an i out to the shop whenever he was working on them and teach us the little things...for my first car i got a 93 hyundai excel hatchback, fun little puddle jumper but it wasnt my first choice. just as i turned 16 i found an 85 IROC for $3000 and i wanted that car so bad. unfortunately i didnt get it (i'm still looking for my iroc)...i moved to alberta just after grad and that didnt work out so well for me so when i moved back to b.c i decided i wanted a fresh start and that meant a new car...i remember when i found the z too..it was on auto trader. it was in vancouver, which was at the time across the province, but i didnt care. i fell in love with that car the second i saw it. so, 5 years later, and one of my new objectives is to buy another camaro...one from every generation to be exact!
i actually make my last car payment this month, so i'm already lookin to the future, it's been a while, and i'm still learning, but i love every minute i spend with my car, bleeding knuckles and all :metal:

My Dad was always a Chevy guy, and I grew up watching him work on his 71 Nova SS a lot. I kind of picked up that love from him I guess, so when I got back from Iraq (and had a very big wad of cash to blow), I started looking for a Chevy to buy. My buddy in my unit had a 95 Trans Am and I absolutely loved the look and sound of it, and he actually kind of turned me on to F-bodies. So I looked around on Autotrader and found a really nice Camaro that I just had to have. I test drove it and bought it the very next day, and I fell in love with it. Been addicted to the LT1 ever since.

I've always thought they were bad ass. My father was more of an old school car guy. He loves his muscle cars. He's got a thing for the new vettes too, but he loves the 60's era cars. I watched my father build a 67 Corvette from the ground up. Thats where my love for cars really bagan. I saw them take something that didnt run, was beat up, and needed a ton of work into something beautiful. I saw all the hard work that went into it and what the results were. Since then, I've been a car nut.

The car that first got me interested in Camaro's/Firebirds was a 69 Z28 that used to go down the street I live on a few days a week. It was a black Z with a 427 and a big blower sticking out of the hood. I could recognize it when I heard it and would run over to the window when ever it would go by. It was tubbed and ready to tear up the streets.

I almost got my hands on a 67 Firebird when I was 15 as a project car. It had a 327 in it and ran. Needed a ton of work though. It was a damn good deal, but I needed something I could drive all year round and would be ready before I was 20 . My uncle ended up buying it, and when we delivered it down to him in Springfield, MA, I picked up an auto trader magazine and found a very clean 95 Camaro Convertable. It was a V6, but it was spotless. I picked it up shortly after my 15th b-day, put a magnaflow exhaust system on it, then let it sit around for a few more months before I sold it. Why? I'm really not sure. I bought a 94 Camaro V6 after that because it was a 5 speed....

Now onto the REAL car. I've been teased by 2 V6's, so I finally decided I had to move up and get something with a little power behind it. I wanted a 6 speed, but got a damn good deal on an auto so I picked it up. There wasnt anything special about it. Just a clean, cheap f-body.

It all started out with the first gens, and moved onto the newer stuff for me.

My dad has always been a GM guy, but I think it was my brother (10 years older than me) that got me into Firebirds. He had a dark grey 1990 Formula 350 when he was 18. It was the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen. I remember when I was real young, he'd always point out the Firebirds and Camaros and make me distinguish them from each other..

Then my dad got an '88 Formula 350 shortly there after and that thing was a beast! I loved that car, too.

I wanted my brother's car so bad, but my delinquent sister tore it up and they sold it before I turned 16. So I set my mind on getting my dad's blue Formula. Since he didn't drive it very often and had so many other toys to pay insurance on, my mom said SOMETHING had to go. He didn't even tell me he had sold it -- my mom let it slip at the dinner table 2 weeks later.. and I cried and didn't talk to him for a long time.

But one night, about a year later -- again at the dinner table, my dad nonchalantly said he bought a firebird that day. I freaked and demanded the year and color. I must say, I was disappointed that it was a 4th gen.. but then he told me it had an LT1 -- the mythical engine my brother had always told me about.

The car was purchased for $1,000 and everyone was skeptical about keeping it. It just kinda hit me one evening when I was staring at it, that this car was meant to be mine. I asked dad if I could have it, and he said "we'll see" :)

MY DAD HAD PURCHASED THE TRUCK ON THE DAY I WAS BORN AS A GIFT TO MY MOM... WELL 16 YRS LATER WE STILL HAD IT AND I NEEDED A RIDE TO TAKE ME TO COLLEGE.. YES I WAS 16YRS OLD WHEN I STARTED COLLEGE AS A FULL TIME STUDENT AND A HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE...WELL MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT, TRUCK GOT STOLEN WITHIN THE FIRST WEEK OF MY 2ND YR IN COLLEGE... SO I NEEDED A NEW TRUCK..

MY UNCLE HAD TRADED HIS MINIVAN FOR THIS CAR.. CAR WASNT EVEN RUNING WHEN HE GOT IT CAUSE IT WAS SITTING UNDERNEATH A TREA FOR ABOUT 2 YRS.... WELL ONE OF THOSE DAYS MY UNCLE NEEDED MONEY AND OFFERED IT TO ME... SINCE HE OWED US 2K HE SAID TO JUST GIVE HIM 1K AND THAT THE CAR WOULD BE OURS AND THE DEBT WOULD BE CLEARED... SO I CAME UP WITH THE 1K AND BOUGHT IT OFF OF HIM...STILL TODAY EVERYTIME HE CALLS ME OR COMES HOME HE ASKS ABOUT THE CAR AND ASKS TO TEST DRIVE IT...

My brother and his gf had split up and he was feeling like a baller as he wasn't blowing all of his income on said girl. So he bought the Camaro because he wanted a toy. Something stylish. And he couldnt quite afford an LS1 car at the time.

A couple months went by and said girl came begging to his knees. He took her back (they're still together, somehow) and the Camaro sat. And continued to sit.(behind the shop in my parents back yard)

He then put it up for sale for 6500 bucks. Nobody in the world would even take the time to come look at it. He lowered the price to 5k, still no bites. This was right at the beginning of this "depression" when people really started cutting back on spending money unnecessarily.

At the time, I had an 05 Ranger that I bought new and it was growing old on me. I didnt need a truck. It was 3 years old and only had 10,500 miles on it. I didnt hardly drive the damn thing.

I sold the truck and the "profit" I made from the truck, I bought the Camaro off my brother. I too had just split up with my ex gf so I thought a nice clean sports car would suit my fancy just fine.

That girl came back around for a couple months but she was an idiot so I booted her and kept the car.

Now I have an addiction for speed and there is NO solution :(

It was what I grew up around.

I remember at some point sometime before I was old enough to drive that there were 7 thirdgen camaros and 1 thirdgen t/a in my hometown. High school or college kids owned them. My hometown is small, about 300 people. I got older and bought the T/A right before my 15th birthday. (Today I think there is just one camaro in that town and its a '96). The 80s Camaros were a big deal back then.

The LT1 engine is what really got me into f-bodies or revived me. I influenced my younger brother to buy f-bodies. He convinced his friend to buy a Camaro LT1 and his friend wrecked that Camaro a week later. Me and my brother bought the car cause I needed an engine, brother needed a tranny. So, figured out how to get this engine in an older car all by myself having never worked on anything mechanical on a car before. Then I figured out how to upgrade other parts of the car and got a better understanding of 3rd and 4th gen f-bodies.

I had wanted a third gen Formula but couldn't find a clean one. LT1 T/As back then were still expensive, a 97 T/A would cost any where from $14K-17K, we found this car at a local Honda dealer for $9K and had 41K miles on it, I wanted an F-body pretty bad just ddint think I could get a T/A. I'm more stuck with the car then I really like the car.

the car was a fathers who he drove to work every day, then gave to his son who passed away. dont know the circumstances wasnt my place to ask but the dad wanted the car gone. so now its mine and i am absolutly in love with it.

I dont really have a story but here we go. Had a 94 chevy s10 4.3l. I loved the truck but had no power which sucks when all of your friends are driving camaros or trans ams. So one day I talked my parents into selling my truck, got $3000 out of it. My parents said i could get anything only one rule no v8s. DAMN. I talked to them and told them that i am going to school to work on v8s and lt1s. I really wanted a trans am. I found one for $3200, dude sold the car out from under me. So i kept looking around and a buddy of mine found a 94 camaro z28 for $4000. Car had 115k miles kinda bad paint and littles things wrong with it. I talked to the guy and pretty much ripped him off i asked him would you take $300 cash and she said yes. I am and working on the car making it faster and look good but im on a budget which sucks.

I"ve always had a thing for F-Body's and Firebird/Trans Am's moreso than the Camaro line. Get it from my Mom I guess, she had a 76 T/A that she sold when I was found to be en route.

My current one??? Bought it off of a speeddensity.org member. He picked up a 01 WS6 and was posting about parting out the car. I'd seen the car for a long time on sd.org and couldn't stand to see it done away with like that, so I asked how much (this is 2003 btw). He said $6K and I said sold. Car showed up sporting ported heads and a hotcam kit, K&N CAI, EWP, Mac Headers, Slowmaster exhaust, M6 swap, Corbeau TRS seats, short shifter, ect. Deal I couldn't pass up. The ONLY changes I made before pulling the motor was adding a 12 bolt and chassis TQ arm, ASM Headers, and SLP LM exhaust.

basically ive been since im a child a v8 lover, the roaring sound, a big cam set up rumble, torque lover all the way, I own a 1969 dodge dart gts poewr nothing all drag. and used to own a nissan sentra SE-R b13 with 15 grand in the motor trans and suspension, having a 20mp/g 2.2 stroker high rpm, for a daily dirving and weekend fun, hitting low 13s on the 1/4,,,
then one day a friend of mine in his ls1 camaro just with bolt ons and some other stuff, got me to race him,,,, and I fell for it,,,, he smacked me all the way in the 1/4 mile... I just got better 60ft times , then I said bye bye, since he passed me like if I was parked.......

so the next week sold the nissan for pocket change, got my lt1, and loving it! getting better economy, well used to LOL, and having some big torque fun for a daily driven car!.......
having tons of fun not being able to change my spark plugs easy but, what the hell, I love getting messy and pissed off if I cant do something right, and to easy its kinda boring............

LOVE MY LTX

i didnt get in to cars til i was 17. my dad always bought old convertables, 66 mustang vert, 67 dodge dart GT vert, 73 pontic grandville vert w/ a 455, and the one that started it all, my first car love, a 1971 Buick Skylark GS455 vert, which i turned down, only once, because i wanted a truck so i got a 1980 toyota on 36"s with a 3" lift. 6 months later i blew up the truck so i "had" to take the buick. i ran it into several inanimate objects (17 yrs old with 350 ft lbs to one tire) until a tree at 40 mph took it for a while. in 99 when the LS1 TA WS6 came out i was in love but it was out of $$ range. my mind drifted everywhere but to an earlier f-body, i really wanted an sn95 cobra (i know i know). i eventually got the buick back and drove it for a while. there became a lot of family drama involved with the car so i sold it to my brother who thankfully sold it to a collector. i was out looking for an an impulse buy to replace my baby when i came across a, home paint job, white '97 30th anny z. it was a v8 so what the heck. cool background on the car, it was confinscated (sp?) by madison co. police depo and then used by them as an undercover police car. it had new cloth on the seats and headliner, full hotchkiss rear suspension kit and torque arm, ceramic coated mids, full 3" exhaust, flowmaster, SLP CAI, speed density tune, LS1 aluminium DS and custom flaming 8 ball emblem painted on the front fenders. i paid 6 g's for it with 130,000 miles on it. might have been too much but i didnt know any better. it was love all over again. it was then i fell into the fbody world and got my subscription to GM high tech and haven't looked back. that car ended up having the tranny, water pump (leading to) and opti all crap out at the same time, also needing a clutch. so i parked it......for 2 months i parked it in my parents drive way. pulled the tranny, clutch, opti, waterpump and lifter the motor to replace all the seals. it got a man-trans rebuilt tranny, pro 5.0 shifter, ram HDX clutch, 4.10 gears, nitto 555DR's new timing chain cover seals, oil pan gasket, waterpump and opti coming to a total of about 6 more grand. i probably now had $13,000 in the car but that car was awesome for a non H/C car. with the gears, nittos, hotchkiss and 4.10 1st and second gear were a monsters. and now the sad part. i had gotten married in there and even had a 93 4 door accord for a dd but sold my baby (my car) for 3,300 cash because i was a family man with a new baby and it was the right thing......bull$h1t. well i lost the wife, kept the fever and thats where i'm at now with my '96, still hoping one day to have an LS1 too.

Well i believe i can actually thank my mom for my fbody love. She has actually owned 2 herself. She bought a 77 and then a 79z28. Ever since i was young and rode around in her car i loved the look and everything about it. Well when i turned 17 she signed over the title to a pretty beat up 1979 z28. So far ive removed the stock 200k mile 350 and first put on a crate motor from gm. Had a freak accident where the air cleaner center bolt peice where the wing nut holds on the top of the air cleaner it unscrewed itself and fell into the motor and it blew 2 pushrods through the oil pan. So since then i saved up money and put in a rebuilt 355 with flat top pistons and a small rv cam. Also installed a 700r4 tranny with a corvette servo and shift kit. Car wouldnt pass emissions and i didnt have the money at the time for all the emissions stuff.
Thats when i decided to get a 93-97 z28. I got a loan from the bank and picked up a 94z28 with 77k miles for 5 grand. I love the power the lt1 has stock and cant wait to get the mods started.

some good stories so far. even though im camaroless right now. im actually looking for the RIGHT one. i guess ill through mine out there.

ive always loved cars since i knew what they were and since my first matchbox car. as i was growing up/getting older i had a thing for chevy/gm cars and trucks. (my parents drove/drive manily honda with a few american cars thrown in the mix. none chevy.) we ended up moving from sc to nc and we ended up next to a guy that had a thrird gen camaro (rs i believe) i didn't think much about it (still young) and he had been threw two other third gens and that leads to the one day me and pops were going somewhere and i saw a maroon 94-95 z28 HALLIN ass while we were waiting to turn out into traffic. it was loud. clean. looked great. i loved everything about that car. still remember as if it happend yesterday. that pretty much set it off. until my neighbor with the thrid gens sold all his thrid gens and got a 97 z28. i loved and still do love that car. (he still has it) its white. t-top. A4. i got alittle bit into firebirds and T/A's before my nieghbor bought the 97. so since those days ive always loved all years of f-bodys. and GM muscle cars.

When I turned 16 I hated cars. I had mud trucks and loved trucks to no end. I did have a soft spot or the 83-88 SS montes because my moms boyfriend had one as I was growing up. Well eventually I got tired of having nowhere to go 4 wheeling and was tired of getting in trouble for wheeling on private land. So finally when I rolled my mudtruck I parted it out and a guy I worked with at the time made me a deal on an 87 SS monte. Beieng a ford guy I was also looking for a lightning or early 90s GT and I also looked at a late 90s cobra but couldnt get financed for one at the time. So as I was saving and looking, the 98-02 WS6 trams ams just looked so bad ass to me.

I eventually found a deal on a 99 formula at a local dealership and so I traded in my monte ss (which I regrett getting rid of every day) and the rest was history. Ever since than I realized the mustangs dont even hold a candle to the 3rd and 4th gens power and looks. I guess I started backwards by liking the 98-02s first but I eventually fell in love with the 93-97 f bods and now I really like the 91-92 formulas and the 91-92 Z as well as the 87-90 Irocs. But I can say this it will def stop there as I cannot stand the 2nd gen f-bods. Sorry I know a lot of people like them its just for me lol.....

I also forgot to mention that I LOVE the styling of the fourth gens. They look like a bullet moving at the speed of sound just standing in one spot. I really love the low roof line with sloped windshield and the way they come to a point at the front. Like they are slicing there way thru the air. Than to top it all off you add the WS6 or SS package to either the LT1 or LS1 cars and they just look amazing. just my 2 cents.

I HATED fbodys in high school, imports were the way to go(I know :( ). Then my neighbors husband (shes now my boss) got his 69z28 frame up resto'd. 383 stroker.....I learned very quickly what was cool. The feel of a front engine, rwd, low coupe.

Went to college and met JoeliusZ28 and he was always on mifbody.com at work. I joined and then some guy was selling a v6 camaro for 1400 so I bought it. Had fun with it but wanted to get a new DD and couldnt afford insurance on both cars so I sold the Camaro to a kid in Indiana. Got a new DD and then ended up moving back home and getting a new job. I was on the hunt for a new car but couldnt find one so I decieded to get a house with my girlfriend.....then three weeks later my v6 camaro was for sale down in Indiana. Had a buddy take me down there and I bought it back, for 1100.

Shes got 210k miles on her and is slow as hell but I had a great summer with it. Next year it will become a yard ornament(under a tarp) when I get a TA or Z28. Cant see selling it, its worth more to me than its cash value. Maybe in 20 years I will have a mild resto done on it. May just give it to my parents to cruise around in. I do want to drive it to California.

I use to work for a dealer as a tech from 1996 to 2000 so I got to drive a couple of 4th gens back then,I even got to do the PDI (Pre Delivery Inspection) on a brand new 98 WS6 M6.I have had a couple of cars over the years 73 Nova 350 Auto,82 Camaro turned into a Z28,but I always loved the 4th gen F-body's.I guy I work with had a 94 Formula M6 all power,leather,T-Tops in very good condition for sale,he told me $3,500.Well a couple of months went by and Jan 08 he told me $2,300 and I told him sold.I have enjoyed this car so much.I never would have been able to get it had it not been such a good price or at least I think it was a good price.

Here are some pics right after I got it

As many already said, I grew up around GM cars. My older brother had a new car every week, mostly 69-72 Cutlass's and Skylarks. As a teenager, my buddy's mom's bf had a sharp 90 IROC. Always had a thing for the late 3rd gen Camaro's.

Time for 1st car, all I wanted was a rwd GM car, didn't care what it was. Ended up with a fwd Grand Am and had a few other cars of that style. Eventually had a nice 99 SI and got bored with it as the only car. Impluse caught my attention to my 97 Z28. Fiancee went with to look at the car. On the test drive, I slid it sideways turning left at an intersection. She actually had a fair grin on her face, and could tell that i'd have it. Next business day, it was mine and on the way home I broke the tires loose at every stop sign.

Since then, converted it to a 6-speed, LT's, ORY, exhaust and more goodies. Pleasureable driving the car everytime.

Always wanted a LT1 SS since the day they came out.

Started with a '94 Camaro 5 speed and sold it after a year for my '94 Z28. Kept saving my money throughout high school and picked up my '97 SS about 6-7 weeks after graduation.

Another one that grew up in a GM family. My brother is 18 yrs older than me and always ran around with his camaros and his buddy in HS ran around in birds. Anyways when I was like 7 yrs old my brother ran into money problems because of his second divorce (to the same bitch) and I sat in his car (a 85 Z28) when the bank came to get it for repo and wouldn't let them take it. Anyway loved F-bodies my whole life. 1st car was an 82 Berlinetta w/305 Dad thought it was to fast and he sold it on me I came home from school one day and my car was leaving the driveway without me... So when I graduated I bought an 89 formula 305 5spd and it was the only car I have wrecked. since then I have had an 87 v6 bird, 81 Formula, 78 TA, 84 Bird 88 v6 bird, 94 Ta, 97 Z, and now this 94 TA that I have made into a WS6 clone and so far I love it but the wife gets this one in spring and I'll be looking again. I really want a 97 true WS6 with a M6... Holy cow this has turned into a book but.........
F-BODIES FOREVER!!

i really couldnt tell you what made me buy my trans am? i guess its that sleek design from the tip of the front bumper to the top of the wing in the back. the performance feel, stance and sound its self is enough and i've always had a thing for black cars. after my car is washed it looks like black ice and that is enough in its self to make me wanna keep for years to come. primarily because they have sleek designs and has a lot of potential.

Ok so my story is pretty long. When I was a kid my dad sold Trans Ams (one of my earliest pictures is me in jeans 3 times too big and rolled up like 5x and standing in front of an 80 or 81) anyway so I got my love of cars from him. My first car was a 62 Chevy II that was a real piece but I loved it. Then after I graduated high school and started making money I saved up a bit and talked my mom into giving me some money to go with what I had saved up and bought a 70 Chevelle Malibu that was painted like an ss with an ss hood. I loved the car but it was an automatic and so I sold it to buy an 81 corvette with a 4 speed. I loved driving around with the tops off but it just didn't have the power. The vette was my daily driver for a while but then when I got a job that I was driving a lot I bought my dad's 88 Buick off him (which was my grandpa's before that, he bought it new). Anyway that new job payed well so I started saving up money and I started on my hunt for my next hot car. It had to have a fuel injected v8 with decent power, manual transmission and t-tops. I looked at probably 50 cars over the course of 18 months to 2 years while I was saving up. Well my dad found a 93 Firebird Formula down in Colorado Springs but there was one problem.... it was purple. The whole way down there (~80 miles) I kept saying "I don't want a purple Firebird", I bet I said it a hundred times and drove my dad nuts.

Well I got down there and saw the car and I would love to say that I fell in love instantly. I didn't even drive it, I made my dad drive it hoping he'd find something wrong with it. It had everything I wanted but it was stock and it wasn't that cool of a color. I let him talk me into buying it, it took a while but I fell in love with it and now I know that I was meant to be a Firebird guy from the beginning. It just took me a while to realize it.

When i was younger there was like 10 people in my neighborhood with fbodys. 4 of them lived on my street and 3 of them were heads cam cars. The sound of those cars going up the street when they came back from the track still makes my hair stand up. From then on thats what i wanted. So i saved my money from the time i made my confirmation till i was 17. It took me over 2 years to find a 6 speed fbody that wasnt totally trashed.

for me its kinda strange....since i NEVER liked the body stile of the LT1 cars (mainly the front end....there too pointy!) and i still am not a big fan of them....but when i was in Tech school i was looking to buy me a fun toy car, at the time i was mainly looking at 99+ T/A's, 2000+ mustangs, and old MK3 Supras, found a few WS6's i liked and could afford along with some mustangs i liked but could NOT afford, i found 1 really nice 2002 WS6 for like $16,000ish so called my parents insurance company (who i was insured with at the time) and was for the most part told that they would never insure me on any type of sports car since i had an at fault accident on my record. got to the point i almost said fuk buying a car, but when i hit the proper "phase" in tech school, i went to the drag strip with a friend and we took his arctic white 93 Z28 and he let me take it down the track a few times and i fell in love with it, driving back to base that night he told me that he was thinking about selling the Z because he was about to pick up a 98 Firehawk, all he wanted was $3,200 for the down payment on the Firehawk, so here i am 5 years later with the car still. still hate the front ends of them, but still love the motor and Tq of it! Though i would still love to get a stang or a MK3, the camaro aint going any where.

I had just gotten back from Iraq for the second time, and I was in the market for a replacement for a rusted out 2001 firebird. I was in the market for an LS car, but my car was too good of a deal to pass up. 7k for a 57k mile 6 speed trans am with a bunch of mods already done to it, including a newly installed procharger kit. So I went and test drove the car and as soon as I sat in the driver seat, that was all she wrote. I paid cash the next day and I've been undoing the damage since.

Ummmm... good question. I have own a '93 to '97 F-Body since I was 17, and I really cannot say what made me interested in them. I guess one day I just said, "hey, I really like these cars." Now it's pretty much my life outside of work and school. LOL...

I bought a '94 polo green metallic Camaro coupe with all my money I saved from working at a local BBQ restuarant for $3,200.00. I really loved the car when I got it, it was real clean and I took great care of it. Shortly after, I found a 4th generation F-Body club that was based roughly 50 miles east of where I lived with my parents. I have never had a good relationship with my family, and have always been independent. About a year after I bought the coupe, stuff really fell through with my dad at home, and I left to forge it out on my own. I ended up moving to where the F-Body club was based out of because I made a lot of friends with that group at the time. During those times, the club was phenominal, and were like family (times have changed though). About a year after moving out, I got a little bit better of a job, and went and bought my Z with 39,000 miles on it for $9,500 (back in '05).

Times have changed with the F-Body scene around here, but I still have an extreme love and respect for my Z. I have had some of the best times of my life with this car. Drove it on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Michigan International, had it at the LTx Shootout... the list goes on. I will never depart with it. The GTO would go first. To much blood, sweat, and tears in the car to turn around.

As a little kid i remembered riding around in my mom and dads 83 z28. The car was sold when i was 5 so i never thought about it really. Then after i wrecked my saturn a year and a half ago i was driving a ford taurus for a while just to get me to school and back. So after getting back from Chicago this summer i decided it was time for a new car. I gave my sister the taurus and was looking for a clean fox body for around 4k. I wasn't able to find one and so i found my 97 z28 for 4500obo. I went checked it out and the car had a lot of miles on it but was pretty clean with no rust. I was able to talk the guy down to $3750. I went out test drove the car again with cash in my pocket, and took the car home that night. Unfortunately i spun a rod bearing 2 months later. So i figured it time to go through everything and "fix" it.

Well guys, here it goes...sorry if it's sorta long. Another GM family here. I grew up riding in oldsmobiles/chevy's and still remember my grandfather's yard. He had several old oldsmobiles, a '60 impala 4 door that he bought new and a '59 apache flatbed truck that I never, ever saw move. My dad had a '79 olds 98 with the 403, two door. My grandfather had the '77 baby blue olds 98 4 door. My aunt had an '87 camaro with the tuned port 305/auto that I got a few rides in the back seat of. We also had the full size class a motorhome with the 454 big block that we took everywhere. My great grandma had an '82 olds omega that was given to my dad to drive during the hard times for us back in the early 90's. He drove it for a while then gave it to me when I was 16. I beat the piss out of that car and took it everywhere. I wore out several sets of tires on that car, until I blew a head gasket and it just wasn't worth enough to fix. My dad pointed out that one of our family members still had the old '60 impala parked out in the desert. This is the same car that was parked at my grandfathers, and the same car that my dad drove to college in the 60's and 70's. I ended up trailering the car back about 100 miles and had a bunch of work to do. Turns out they parked the car back in '73 due to a blown head gasket. I fixed everything and drove the car for a few months until I had to leave for the air force in '97. My brother called me while I was away and asked if he could use the car. Fast forward to about a week later, i'm getting a call saying he pulled out in front of someone and got t-boned, totalling my car that i'd worked so hard on. I never saw that car again, and i'm still pissed about it. So after that I got my mint condition '94 chevy K1500 4x4 extended cab for $13,500 back in april of '98. I loved that truck and just sold it a few years ago for $4800, should have never sold it though. Then I got stationed in alabama and got married, so I needed a second car for my wife. We saw a high mileage '91 firebird parked on a highway and took a look at it. It was $2200 and pretty clean for the year. It was a V6 auto, but it was what I could afford. I remember that body style, and the way it looked was awesome. I did an engine rebuild due to an oil leak not too long after that. Started the engine and the oil leak was still there. Turns out it was a bad o-ring on the distributor shaft causing the leak, a $2 part at the most. I drove that car for a few years until it was just acting up too much to drive. I sold it and ended up not having a performance car for a while. Then, we just had to have another GM car. So we bought a 2004 GTO M6...man this was the nicest car i've ever owned. Tight, fast, smooth, we loved it. Did a few mods(exhaust), and hung onto that for about 3 years. Then came time to upgrade my truck, and I had to trade the goat in. Still regret getting rid of that car to this day. Went through a few jap cars, honda, etc. Not having a GM car was not a good thing, so I started looking for my F-body. I always loved the 4th gen, and having had so many problems with my 3rd gen bird, I figured the 4th gen would be better for me(sorry guys). I started looking and found a cayenne red '97 camaro with a blown head gasket, M6 ofcourse. I picked it up for $1200 in tucson, az and trailered it home. I rebuilt the engine and did a few mods. Long tubes, pcm reprogram, CC503 cam, etc. I spent about $5k on the car now total, and it's exactly how I want it to be now. Sorry for the long post but I had to......

Ok, I was into imports in High school, yet always drooled over Camaros. I couldn't afford the insurance on a V8 and that's the only way I would take a Fbody. Well, I spun the bearings in my import and decided to get a Camaro. I was kinda looking for a LS1 but I hated the 98+ front ends. I found a 95 Camaro. It was an odd color which made me more curious (Kia cinnamon red), it had 125k on it and they wanted $4500 for it. Already had a cam and a few other bolt-ons. I drove it and fell for it. The M6 got me and the LT1 was great. Had it tuned and it ran perfect. Love it and won't get rid of it.

I have no story except for I just flat out love 4th gens  The muscle car feel, amazing handling, amazing looks.

I think my favourite part is that it looks modern yet like a classic at the same time. Hard to explain.

Well I just read the entire thread, and i guess it's time for me to post. I grew up in a F-body family, my Mom and Dad used to always tell me stories about when he used to have fast cars he used to have. They told me when they first met they both used to have 69' camaro's. Many of the best stories involved camaro's, and my Dad says his fastest car was a 67 camaro with "pop up pistons, solid cam, angle plug heads and a 780 holley. My Dad who is about to turn 53 has never owned a non gm vehicle until the a few years ago he bought an f250 and a f350 dump truck to replace his 75 c-20 and 73 dump truck. My Mom says that her favorite car she ever had was her 69 Z/28.
My first car was a 77' GMC half ton short bed and I LOVED that truck for the short time i drove it. It was half primered and had a 305 with headers and 3 inch duals with a built TH350 and a cheap stall converter, I got it as a roller and put it all together myself. Sadly I wrecked the truck on my way home from school on a friday, and had a couple of my friends with me, one of em broke his collar bone which i still feel bad about. I still have whats left of the truck and I plan on putting it back together one day when I have a lil more money coming in then i do now.
I drove a couple crappy beaters around for a while. After I got out of high school I got into the drugs and alcohol party scene for a while. I decided I needed a change, and quit partying and started working as much as I could. I had saved up some money and wanted a nicer car 'I was driving a 92' chevy lumina with about 300k miles'. I wanted either a 4th gen Firebird or an Integra, the reason I wanted a Firebird over a Camaro was because I liked the interior better.
I stopped at a used car dealer near my house one day, They had a couple V6 camaro's and they had an LT1 6 speed Camaro six speed that was out of my price range and they had a bright red LT1 A4 formula sitting near the cheaper cars. I looked it over pretty good, I didn't see any signs of body work or leaks and it was in my price range. A few days later my Dad and I went back to check it out again. We took it for a drive, and everything checked out good except a grinding headlight. My Dad told me "if you like the car buy it". It's been about 2 years and the bright red formula is still sitting in my driveway.

I love the feeling you get when driving a 4th gen. The last of the real muscle cars.

I bought my car because it was a project and could be "brought back" and made into a nice car. Took the car for a test drive, hit the TCS button and dropped the clutch at 4k. Ass end slid out to the right and away we went. Knew it was mine. Bought it and changed damn near everything.

I know my dad is proud that his kid has a M6 Z28 compared to all the other guys at his work when they talk about there kids. lol.

Alright, so I decided I no longer needed all the space that comes with owning a sedan. I was going to buy a sports car, it was going to have a V8 and it was going to be sweet. Originally i was looking at '99-'04 mustang GT's but they were all extremely overpriced and underpowered. That and everyone and their grandma has a New Edge Mustang around here. So, I started looking at Camaros. Saw a couple of nice ones, but they were sold before I could get ahold of the owner. So I started looking at Trans Ams and I found this beautiful red '94 with black rims for a great price. I met up with the driver. As soon as I saw it, I was in love. It was beautiful and in great shape. Then we went for a test drive and I knew i had to have it. It sounded like a complete beast and the power was just incredible. And so the rest is history. lol.

Mine's pretty simple.... I was a ford GURU to say the least and I was looking for a fox body and found one. Neat little car it was but sitting next to it was this dirty ol' white Z28 with a 6spd. I had no experience with chevy's at the time and didn't know they had a 6spd that's for sure. Anyways, the dealership fellow was a dodge fan but loved chevy cars due to the 350 being so easy to build and so "hard" to break. He told me over and over that the Z was a much better car than the 5.0 and he finally got it threw my head. One drive, $25 in fuel and a full throttle pull against my buddies "done up" 00 GTP and kickin his @$$ I was hooked. Now you couldn't pry it out of my cold dead hands let alone my living hands. The greatest part is my son loves it and actually asked my wife "why doesn't everyone drive a tamawo?" Not to mention any time I act like I'm mad at the car and want it gone, my wife tells me to shut up cause that damn car aint goin no where. Sorry for the ramble...

My step dad's friend had a 95 T/A with a M6 when I was 16. And he let me take it out. And I was hooked! And finally had the money to get my 95 T/A about 9 years ago. And it has been to hell and back with me. And I've lost motors in it and had things go wrong. That would make most people just get rid of it. But it has earned my love and respect. And is under going a comlete rebuild right now. But I picked up a 94 Formula with a built 383/M6. Because I am expecting my first child. And want him to say he was driven home from the hospital in a real muscle car. And when he is old enough to drive I will pass the 94 down to him. So he will be able to enjoy it. And have a part of his history with him!

I've been around cars and in the garage since the day I could walk. My dad had a '92 mustang that he bought new and if I ate my cereal fast enough I could ride to school in it. :D Since I was 6 months old my dad has had a '62 Grand Prix and when I was 4 he sold the mustang and bought a '68 GTO. I love muscle cars and came close to buying something a lot older than my '95 Z28, but I needed something I could drive in the winter... My camaro was as close as I could come to having both a muscle car and a year-round car. I was looking for a fox-body, camaro or firebird (always been a pontiac family). This car showed up on CL and it was the best car I was going to find for my budget. And that's how I ended up with my f-body.

I would always browse CL and look at the 93-97 z's since those were my favorite Camaro's....one day I got a wild hair and here she is.

About six years ago I met one of my best friend (Peter aka BadBlackZee on here) my freshman year of high school (which I indirectly knew through my sister since they went to middle school/high school together). He had/still has a gorgeous black 95 M6 Z28. I always liked the car and couldn't get over how badass it looked and sounded. At that time I was driving 240sx's (which I still have a soft spot for). Early Sophomore year I sold my second 240sx for a good amount of cash and a friend of Peter's had a 93 Z28 for sale. I went to look at it and it was love at first sight. Bought it and never looked back since. A lot of sweat, tears and four letter words have come out of owning and working on the car but at the end of the day I love it and could never let it go (even though I often lie to myself about selling it and getting a C5 Z ;) ). Anyway, that brings us to me typing this up and wanting to thank my friend Peter for getting me hooked on this drug of a car. I wish I had more time for it though...

I basically walked into the dealership and wanted a Firehawk. SLP wasn't accepting any orders for them so we decided on a WS6 Formula. We waited a couple of months and my car came in with a red Firehawk! They started allowing orders after I ordered my WS6. Actually, when the salesman called me, he was calling about the Firehawk as mine was all the way to the front and the Firehawk was at the rear of the truck. Anyway, signed the paperwork and I was driving it home.

Wanted a Corvette. Couldn't afford it in highschool. So I got the next best thing, a 1989 5spd V6 Firebird. At least it had the Aero package and dual exhaust muffler.

Yeah I know, cool story BraH!

well lets see, i have owned a couple in the past so i had a liken for the Camaros. i had a bike and 2 kids...so hardly ever got time on it and i think in 5 years my wife got on it twice...so i decided it was time to wrench on something again...Mustangs are everywhere so i started looking at 2nd gen Camaros...then i found a 4th gen in my area and fell in LOVE with it, turns out the car wasnt as promised and the guys seemed a little shady..so i passed. then out of the blue i get a email from a guy interested in my bike and he had a 93 also...out of the area which i actually liked (so you dont hear i know whos car that was...or what they did to it) so after 2 meetings and a test drive we made the deal. Then i met some AWESOME guys (friends now) and started wrenching, swapping wheels, NOS system, gears , stall and so on....and now it is what you see...re painted VICTORY red and running in the 11's with a "Pretty Much Stock" LT1...LOVE IT...

I bought my 93 Trans Am on impulse. I was driving past a small dealership, and it just kind of "jumped out at me" I looked it over, salesman came out, we b'sed for a while, then I took it for a drive. It was nice and quick, rode nice, handled pretty good. I had wanted another "fun" car since I had sold my zx2 when my son was born, and had been bumming around in slowpoke 4 doors for a while. I came back the next day before work , b'sed the price down to 3400 somehow, and could not pass it up.

My love for f-bodies came from my family. We were GM and I only recall one ford in the family and it was a early 70's Torino (bad ass). I remember as a kid sitting on my grandmas front porch on Broadway (Lake Co. IN) watching the cars cruise by in the 70's and early 80's. My dad had a 68 Camaro that was just awesome (wish I could find and give to my dad). Anyway it was just growing up around that and it made me a car guy. During high school I had a 79 Trans Am (gave to my brother), 72 Camaro SS (sold when got married, stupid!), 87 Z28 (traded for truck, stupid), 87 Iroc (sold), 94 Z28 (still own). I am a car guy, if goes fast, sounds good and looks good I like it. Being a police officer and being able to run the interstate in Northwest Indiana and running the Charger hard helps take care of the need for speed syndrome. I just think it is awesome how a brand of car (not just Camaro) can bring people together and to realize that we all have more in common than we think. Muscle cars rule!

My first Camaro was an 89 RS 305 V8 with a single flowmaster exhaust. I bought it for $400 from my brother in law and sank way... WAY too much money into it... At 230,000 miles the poor RS was beat to death by the PO and just worn through... Just to make her road worthy I had to...

Replace the windshield
Replace 2 tires
Replace the clutch
Replace the starter
Perform a full tune up
Full brake job
Dig out the rats nest wiring... EVERYWHERE... OMFG you have no idea!!!

No matter what though I would always work on it. Improving it and looking good doing it. No she wasn't a race car but damn it she was mine! I was screwed out of the car after I got Asuna... A bad deal that still pisses me off to no end... I was going to sell the car to my sister who borrowed the $500 from her boyfriend... but the idiot put the car in his name... So when he left her the dirt bag ***hole now ex boyfriend of course took the car. Haven't seen the car since. Lesson is never NEVER sell a car to a family member.... especially if they are an idiot.... EVER!

The story of Asuna is very different... thank God

EPIC thread..... Having said that my car is a love hate relationship.
My first car was a mustang, a 86 notch 4 banger 4 speed stick, I blew up the tranny. I had no clue what I was doing but I succesfully installed a pulla part tranny in 6 hours with no experience working on cars at all. Later I blew the motor, then installed what i thought was a 302 out of a wrecked 81 gia mustang (4.2l v8 302 look a like) my first swap, I wrecked it in the rain a month later. Then I got a 93 4 banger stang for a steal but hated it, it was so slow. Then I got a 86 gt 5.0 mpfi efi 5 speed and it was like crack! My first love. I built a 85 gt vert that i was given for free, found a 86 gt motor for $100 and a aod for $65 at pull a part. The aod was a autotragic slush box making the car feel like a turd so i sold it for next to nothing, then was the 88 gt vert, then a 93 4 banger i got for free that ran perfect! I kept the 86 the entire time lots of mods, maf conversion, electric fans underdrives, equal lenth headers, offroad h pipe, flows, ported heads and intake, 5 lug swap, 3 g alt swap and whent thru about 4 t5 trannys One day i came across a 84 firebird se 305 auto bought it for $200 it felt fast and was a tire smoker for a auto car but no match for the 86. My friend sold his foxes, got a sn95 then a 98 ls1 camaro. I came into some money and he talked me into buying this car off craigs list so I bought it for $1500 with 103k on it, sold the mustang as it wasnt quite as fast and was having issues. Then my tranny shit the bed a month after I sold the stang, opti failed a few months later, fuel pump failed, then I blew the head gasket after a few weeks after I had it at the track. It's the first car I have drag raced; 14.3 with a failing headgasket at 97 mph, not bad. It has some minor issues and its horrible on gas compared to my mustangs but it does handle better and the torque is amazing but its a auto. So I'm still on the fence with this car. Im not a chevy guy thats for sure but nor am I a ford guy. It's a pain to work on and sorta the bastard child motor and comes with a weak rear end. But when I was a kid I always wanted a 3rd gen, I thought they looked so cool especially about a 91 IROC. That's the car I wanted. I still like the looks of those over my car but I do like that the 4th gen lost most of the mullet apeal compared to the 3rd gens lol. I felt like a redneck driving my old bird. All in all I'm a car guy and I get bored easily. I'm sure if i had a m6 i would feel differently. I too own a bike and realize just how slow cars are:)
