I'm an area supervisor for a private security company. Basically, rent-a-cop for federal housing projects. Not a bad gig, honestly. I have a background in law enforcement and military, so it's more of the same. I enjoy the work, and I make about the same as the local police do, so I'm not complaining. Carry all the same "toys" too, although I hope to never have to use them.

It's not BIG $$$, but it's an honest living, my company has a solid reputation, we hire the best applicants we can, and we are constantly training. Honestly, we do more training than the local PD's do. Range qualifications for armed personnel are done on a quarterly basis, rather than annually like the police and sheriff's dept, we are the only company in the area that carries Taser's, our written reports have brought shame on the local PD's reports in the past (one incident in particular, PD on site for an assault, they mixed up the Victim and Witness info in the initial report, passed it on the Pros. Att., now it's going to court, the witness was subpoenaed to appear and testify to the extent of his injuries, the victim was subpoenaed to provide a witness statement. . . I don't know how you can make such a huge mistake, and even after being corrected, they refuse to change their report.)
Heck, even the MSP knows who we are, we've been involved in helping them capture fleeing criminals on our property before. To put it nicely, we aren't what you might call "****ing around." haha

Starting over from teh bottom, but I'm a employee of the BF Goodrich Ft. Wayne plant, parent company is Michelin. Right now I'm a tire painter, but I don't paint jack. I load tires on the racks to go to curing machines, and babysit the painter machines (tires are sprayed with silicone to aid release from curing molds). It's physical, but I just can't believe I'm getting paid what I do to sling tires. I'm making better money than I ever made working on cars.

I started out as a welder in high school, working in the oil patch with my Dad till Reagan took office. Then became a Journeyman Electrician with the power company in Houston...was there 11 years. I've been a Locomotive Electrician on the railroad for the last 21 years. Union jobs have been good to me.

I sell La-Z-Boy furniture , going into my 5th year. Sweet gig work about 30 hours a week and make some decent money. If you can call it working plant my ass in a chair and browse the LTx forums til people walk in lol. If you ever want to buy product ask me for advice prior to visiting your local La-Z-Boy furniture gallery! Studying to become an X Ray tech, just need my 2 year certification. Then the race car money will be flowin!

Oh I can do a little better...I quit smoking cigarettes when they were 65 cents a pack cuz I refused to pay such a high price. I swore I'd cut back on my gasoline consumption as a protest when it got to 98 cents a gallon...& it was a choice of regular or unleaded leading up to that day...LOL.

Wowww... well when gas hit 98c that was about 92. Thats when i started driving, and I remember gas was 98c. And smokes were 1.98 a pack. If i could find 5 bucks... i would be able to get gas and smokes and go out cruising for the night.

I'm a sales manager at an auto parts store. I get paid good money to do very little. Haha. I do some auto work and housing when I can. Used to be a full time student at IUP studying Secondary History Education, but got sick of taking classes that weren't needed for my career choice so I left and went back home to work full time.

I enjoyed IUP....especially in the warmer months when the sun was shining nice. It may have been the arm pit, but the town next to my mine is the butt hole. And that's no joke. That's what it smells like.

Noticed someone had posted a link to their LinkedIn profile. Chances are I physically had a hand in the equipment you connect through to see the site. Primarily, I manage their West Coast production data center but I also get sent to build others and maintain the many tens of thousands of switches, servers and other gear around the world. On the side, I still dabble in web development, graphic design and general IT work for a few clients I kept from running my own business throughout CA. I was destined for automotive or tech work. It just so happened to work out this way and I got to keep cars a hobby without ruining the fun.

I work for a company that sells municipal equipment and parts for those equipments. Street sweepers, garbage and recycling trucks, vacuum trucks, jetters, etc.
Since we're a small company I do lots of things. I take care of the parts departments on the garbage/recycling trucks side, some marketing stuff, all the trainings to the customers on new equipments, demos, tech support.

I currently work at team Dillon racing. I'm a mechanic we race dirt late models. I travel often. My duties are to turn the car around after each race, repair broken stuff (bell housings transmissions, bird cages, spindles, etc.) change motors and more random things I just started making bodies. At the track I make suspension changes our crew chief wants and keep the car fueled and sometimes fix a wrecked car to make the race. Trying to learn tig welding and everything I can while I'm here. I'm hoping one day it leads to a job at RCR our shop is located on their campus.

So I picked up a second part time job that has the potential to be full time in spring/summer
I wire cars at one of the local chassis shops for the use of Mick's performance engine management system. Pretty much strip out any existing sites that will not be used and install the fuse panel, relays, run all the wires, and make the engine harnesses.
In spring/summer when it gets busy and he needs someone to be his right hand man, I'll probably be sent to tracks to be on site tech support for the people running the system.
Here's a car we did and some progress on a pulling truck we are doing. Granted, its not done so it still looks messy34152341533415434155
Nice man! I'm a complete idiot when it comes to wiring and electrical but I'm taking an engineering class this semester that'll really teach me.

I worked as a night shift maintenance machinist during high school in factory that made castings. After that I studied mechanical engineering for two years. Gave up on that and decided I wanted to be a crop duster. I worked for 3 years on my grandpas farm while I got my license. Gave up on flying low when I got engaged. I still work on the farm and I am in community college. I'm studying IT/Networking and working on my CCNA.

Posted a couple years ago, but things are changing. Still working as a Project Manager/Licensed Professional Engineer for a large construction company - roads, bridges, underground utilities. But retiring at the end of this year. Already winding down to 3 days a week. Couple of interesting recent projects....
Small job - In April, mill/pave the asphalt portion of Old Bridge Raceway Park (Englishtown) 1/4-mile, in prep for the NHRA Nationals.

Large job ($70,000,000) - reconfigure and reconstruct the Garden State Parkway/Rt 70 interchange 88. Did not manage this project, but had to sign/seal some of the bridge deck calculations.

I feel your pain. Used to be an awesome hobby for me. Turned to it professionally. Pretty much despised every full time second I spent and had zero interested in doing a single thing to my own cars. Slowly coming back around now that I've been out of the field for a couple of years. That's one career field I see hyped on the TV commercials and sit there and think "lie, lie, lie." There's no getting ahead as a mechanic/tech IMO. The only ones getting ahead are the shop owners.

Here I found an old vid. Can't find my go pro ones I think they were lost when I reset my computer.
https://vimeo.com/146053054
I used to fly 4-5 times a week trying to get more hours. I flew in a diamond DA-20, a Beechcraft bonanza, and a Piper Pawnee. Eventually I'll get an airplane. If I can hold off having kids.
I always thought it was neat when I would climb then dive really hard. It would make you weightless and every speck of dust on the floor would float up!
