I bought a 3.42 posi 10 bolt out of a 4thgenoff my buddy. It had around 45k miles on it when it came out so I'm NOT going to be replacing the gears. I'm swapping my current 2.73 rear end out for this one, so I'm going to sandblast the whole thing and paint it black. I figure since I'm gonna have to take it apart to get the brakes on I should put new axle bearings and seals in. Any aftermarket brand I should go with for that or just go with GM? And for a cover I was going to go with either the Trick flow cover or the "TA" cover with the bearing supports. Any major differences between those two or are they basically the same? and what kind of fluid should I use. First time doing any type of rear end swap so I just want to do it right the first time! Should see a major difference between the 2.73's and 3.42's ;) oh yeah and the suspension is 100% stock all around with the exception of the KYB AGX adjustables on all 4 corners so if the TA or Trick Flow cover/girdle setup interferes with the PHB or any clearance issues exist let me know thanks.

I dont know what mods you have power wise, but you should see anywhere from .2-.4 improvement in the 1/4.
A 2.73 to 3.42 gear swap is similar to the M6 guys going from 3.42 to a 4.10 gear.
It should be fun for sure.

342s will be a lot better. I went from 273s to 323s with my old car and it was alot more fun on the streets. Im actually beginning to think my car may have 343s instead of 373s like the prior owner told me but im too lazy to check.
Also on a side note, whats the advantages of an aftermarket cover?

wow that rear looks familair Kevin lol. I had a TA girlde on it before i took it out of my RS. I was using a BMR PHB when i had the car and didnt have any clearance issues with it.

Doesn't matter what cover you use, but with the stock panhard you may rub a bit til the cover wears down. Mine did a lil with the stock phb.
You could use POR 15 instead of sand blasting, but it won't really matter what you do there.
I use Lucas in all of mine. Personal preference I suppose.
Axle seals wouldn't be a bad idea, and don't forget the cover gasket.

performance wise my car is 100% stock LT1 with just CAI and catback lol.
im gonna use rtv sealant for the cover gasket i already have some from my old unfinished lightning project. dam i should grab an adj PHB before i put it in then... i dont want to ruin my nice cover ;)

I'm just gonna order a TA cover it will fit my buddy has one. Buy some bearings and seals from GM or autozone and sandblast and paint it up! I'll keep this posted.
