Out of both of the T/A's that I have owned they may have been called a Camaro twice combined. I have had someone walk up to me and the T/A and be like "someone must have money..." that is more annoying then anything...

LT1 4th gens get people confused all the time. LS1 4th gens are easier to tell apart, IMO.

Maybe I don't associate with enough car people but 90% of all people I have shown my car to have called it a Camaro at one point or another even after I've said its a T/A, its to the point that I just don't care.

yea i dont even bother to correct them, i just say ya my camaro and continue on hahaha... but if they do know its a firebird, its a trans-am. if its a v8 its a trans-am if its a v6 its a firebird. only one person i have met that didnt know me knew of a formula, and he thought my car was a v6 ( its de-badged )

I've only got camaro twice.. but they werent actually looking at the car. But EVERYONE calls it a Trans Am and it DOES have a big Formula sticker on the side...

Of course, T/A is better than being a V6... I get that on occasion.

But when some one has an atitude that they know every thing but they dont know shit, that gets annoying. I really dont hear much because I never drive the car.

funny story-- back in '00 i was out at a local street racing spot, my girl and i pulled up and parked. we were in my newly aquired '99 formula and i had an exhaust put on it-- no cats and a flomaster, custom y-pipe-- anyway, parked the car, and a "kid" of hispanic origin comes to me and says he wants to race me after this big body 'ss' and his boy will set it up durring that race. i was like -- whatever. so his boy come up to me and asks, is that a 6 cylinder? i said - its a firebird... and he says, 'you have nitrous?' i say no. just an exhaust, as mentioned before. he says,' will you pop the hood so i can make sure you dont have gas on the car?' i said 'sure' . thinking the "game" was up on the 6 cylinder car i popped the hood and raised it for this genious to look for nitrous lines.
after he checks for gas, and looks to see if i have headers he stands up and says 'yep! its a six. how much you wanna do this for?" i swiftly close the hood and look at my girl with a shit eatin grin on my face and say" how much you got?". then proceded to tell him that his buddy is gonna have to set this "6 cylinder" out 2 and the move because he is driving a brand new, paper plated GT Mustang, 5 speed. i knew i wouldnt need it, but i figured what the heck- if he is dumb enough to do it.......
he agreed. i got paid and didnt even have to beat on the car to get it done.

great night. good times.

Tons of people used to call my Formula a V6. I would just laugh. It still had the "Formula V8 badges right on the headlight and rear bumper. One kid with a V6 Camaro was Talking shit to me at a car show once. He said "his V6 Camaro would tear my Firebird into pieces"... He had a riced out 98-02 Camaro. He thought I had a V6. I opened my hood and the kid laughed and said "this aint nothin special, I got you", which it wasnt really anything special, but way better than a V6! Now I'm thinking this kid has something under the hood that I dont know about. I was there before he got there, and I didnt hear his car. I'm thinking this kid isnt N/A if he's talkin shit to me with his V6 Camaro. I go over, ask him to open his hood, and wadda ya know! A bunch of wire loom, painted stuff, and a shiny CAI! No n2o or FI! His friend says "How much do you want to put down on a race?". I laughed and said "I dont waste my time on cars like that". The kid started laughing and said "Thats alright, I understand if you dont want to lose!".... I walked over to my car, started it up, and told the kid how big of a dumb ass he is and he's lucky that I'm nice and didnt just hustle him. Guess he ran a mid 16 at the track too which I found out later. :laugh:. I then left and felt pretty damn good for the rest of the night knowing I did a good thing by not taking advantage of someon elses stupidity.
