Ok guys well I need some suggestions on this. Next friday I'm making a meal for the woman. She doesn't eat any meat except for chicken so I picked something called "Orange Soya Sauce Marinated Chicken" the recipe sounds pretty good and with that also some "Asian Grilled Green Beans" which also sound pretty good. Ok now is where you guys come in, I'm stumped on what else to get for this meal. So any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm think some kind of salad (besides just lettuce) and then another side.

Thanks!

It sounds you're going pretty asian on the cuisine style. If that chicken is anything like sesame chicken or sweet and sour chicken it would be great with some white rice, or you could even go w/ some japanese style fried rice.

Wasn't sure if I wanted to do rice, thought about it but wasn't sure... I'll have to look that up. God I love "work" haha

For dessert, i'd go with a nice tiramisu.

Ok I think I know what Saki bombs are but can you clarify? I think I had them at a new years party?

Sounds good. Is there some kind of Oriental salad?

Not really sure on that one. I haven't dabbled in Asian salads much. I would imagine something involving sesame oil, almonds, and chow mein noodles would work nicely.

If you do cook rice (you should for this meal) do yourself and her a favor and go buy a rice cooker. My wife did and I was like why in the hell do we need another sort of cooker in the kitchen????:frustrated: Then we compared rice on the stove to that made in the cooker and I was :D with the purchase. We eat tons of brown rice and this cooker makes it palatible...

That just seems like it would be a waste of money to me. I don't eat rice that often so I would basically be buying it for one meal. I'll go buy fried rice already made, throw it in a skillet make it warm and act like i made it. lol jk

It would be unless you are going to eat rice often for sure. You could just buy the uncle bens, "throw it in the microwave" fried rice. It's pretty damn good. She would never know it came from a bag.

Well I went and got everything for the meal except for the sesame oil, figured I could skip on that since the smallest bottle was $5 and I need two tbsp... lol. But tomorrow night i have to throw together the marinate and go out and get my green beans from the garden. so hopefully this turns out good.

I made the food today. I made enough for five people and everyone enjoyed it. The chick was ok, I dont think it had enough flavor but that could just be me criticizing my own cooking. The greeen beans were so good. And the Uncle bens rice was pretty good too. Everything turned out great! thanks for all the suggestions everyone!
