So some of you may know my tranny is starting to fail me. not a big deal i accept responsibility for that... now then i have found a new tranny for my car and at a decent price but i cant figure out who or where to go for shipping? I need it sent from Orange County, California. (92833) to Wichita, Ks. (67226). its 120 punds and i'm guessing they will crate it?

idk where to even start. i have googled alot of different places and called and most of the prices are outrageous! so if you have any experience or just plain knowledge, please share! thanks

I have used R&L Carriers and Yellow Freight and they have both been reasonable

450 bucks is too high to me! i've heard of that R&L one before. do you just call them up and ask them what it will cost?

UPS will ship up to 150 lbs. That would leave a lot of 'weight" for the actual crate too. Anything over 70lbs gets handled by hand and never on a conveyor belt.

FUCK UPS. They suck

Do Fedex, theyre the best with price and ability to handle the items.... DHL used to be awesome but they dont do ground shipping anymore

That does seem high. I had a hood, two fenders, a dash and a spoiler shipped to me for half that. I'm pretty sure he used UPS Freight.

WHAT?!?!?!?!

DHL is awesome????? Since when? Since they went belly-up because they sucked so bad?

I would ship anything UPS or FedEx and never worry at all.

Old Dominion is pretty cheap. My fiance has shipped his 383 a few time from Iowa to Florida a few times.

average price is around $250 for freight. Thats the usual flat rate price. if you insure it and its fragile etc it'll cost a lil more but $450 is crazy

ok well how much total do yall think it should be? the tranny is only 250 bucks. its an 60k mile original tranny. now i know its not a built one but just to get me up and running again i think it will be just fine! especially with the shootout abuse behind me. 400 shipped sound like a good offer?

thats about the only good thing they ever did. got a free computer out of em too.. idiot didnt scan the package when he delivered it, nor did I sign for it. Called em a week later and questioned it because online it said it was still on the truck for delivery. needless to say I got an extra laptop outta the deal lol

Um no. I work at UPS and everything gets put down conveyor belts sir. They get unloaded from the truck, spa'd for the label into a sorting pan, (all over 70's are placed on the bottom belt though) onto a belt, and then taken off by the person loading that particular truck.

As for that 150 lbs rule, its complete BS. We've had "150" lbs items come down the belt and then when they are actually weighed after they are dropped off some of them end up being like close to 200.

No. Over-70's are hand loaded off to the side down a small slide, or a special section depending on how your particular hub is set up.

Sorting pan? lol, you must work in a tiny hub ie sub-100,000 sq/ft

I have never in my life delivered a package weighing that much, and i've been doing this for quite a while ;) . That is obviously an error by someone making a bs label, to save on shipping.

Items over 70 aren't going to be put on a conveyor, especially a large box with say....a transmission in it...people usually ship them in a huge plastic rubbermaid container, or some sort of wooden container.

Well everyday I put on/offload a package from the belt that is over 70 lbs.

We aren't the smallest hub but we also arent the biggest, couldnt tell you sq ft really.

Yes, thats what they do. They put the weight limit on the box but in all reality sometimes its more than that. We had one that we actually weighed that was more than 150 lbs once it got to us. It ended up being 195lbs to be exact.

We had a transmission come through and the dope put it in a heavy cardboard box and we had to take our dandy time and repackage the whole thing cause oil was everywhere...What a prick.

I'm going to assume you're a driver. Did you work preload before you started driving?

Worked in the hub, on the twi shift, night shift and briefly on the pre-load shift. Yes I am a driver.

Yeah, I got hired a year ago last Monday. It's not a bad place to work, but I would hate to drive.

Driving sucks until you get your paycheck, then it isn't so bad, lol.
