I live in mustang country, all of my friends own stangs. My dad has a 70 fastback he's trying to restore, and now I want one. :shiner:
Im just tired of driving the camaro everyday. I had my old firebird for 2 years and this one going on a year and am just tired of looking through the window of an fbody and climbing in and out of them.
Im looking at foxbodies right now, but damn they seem expensive to me. I can get a nice LT1 car for what most people are wanting for worn out 5.0 cars. But I did find a deal on a V8 swapped 4 banger hatchback Im gonna look at this weekend. Has a small cam and a 5 speed. Should sound good since muffstangs always seem to sound better than any GM ever could. If its not a complete junk Im gonna get it.
The camaro will then become my toy and I will start playing with it and shoot for 11s, so dont call me a complete trader.
So who all else here are closet rustang fans. And does anybody have alot of knowledge about foxbodies that would come in handy.

i'm a mustang/ford guy. (the only reason that i drive a camaro is because its faster than the usual mustang). my bro has an '04 gt thats highly modified that i know in and out, but i don't know much about foxbodies. so i cant help you there.

Yeah, but it shouldnt be much slower than the camaro as it sits now. I want a decent beater and figured a stang would be more fun than a honda civic or SUV. Plus Ive always loved foxbodies, if the one I wanted when I was 16 wouldnt have sold before I could get my hands on it I would have probably never gotten into the fbody scene.

Just my $.02, but if you're going Mustang, get a SN95 with the mod motor. Reason I say that is although you're starting out short handed, the mod motor puts a lot of possibilities on the plate. They're dirt cheap too, and you can find nice examples for well under $5K. Plus, the SN95's can be made to look REALLY good (IMO and I'm a GM guy at heart) and the interiors are MUCH nicer than the fox save for the "put your fist in the dash" shifter positioning.

Sorry to hear the bug bit you. We traded our 96 firebird last year for a 89foxbody stang that never left the garage, when the stang finally was having a good day we sold it, and got another firebird. Good luck...

I like mustangs, but I'm not really a big enough fan to go out and buy one. The ONLY one I would ever want would be the 03/04 Cobra. They look bad ass and perform great too. Other than that, no thanks! I'll stick to GM.

This car is nice! He's a member on a local Indy Board i'm on. Stock 6.0L, single turbo, he loves roll racing bikes. Right now he's bottom 11's but should easily be mid 10's if not better. Pretty damn killer considering the stock motor/turbo combo.

Don't have anything against Stangs. They are just not for me. Good luck with your new toy.

What is the idea for this car? Street or strip?
Fox bodies are easier/cheaper to build for drag racing.
Mod motors are better for cruising.

I almost pulled the trigger on a foxbody hatchback that ran 12's before i bought my stock 93 z... i really like mustangs, except the new ones.. i constantly look at mustangs who might want to trade or something... but its hard to find any in real good condition for a daily driven LT1 selling price..

Mod motors are better for cruising.
How many stock longblock 5.0's have been able to run nines at 140+ with only a blower and supporting mods?
I also beg to differ on a pushrod set up bieng cheaper to build , unless you are planning on sticking with an N/A set up. N/A the modular can hit mid to high 11s without any engine mods (full bolt ons/gears/suspension/slicks), the 5.0 will also need full bolt ons/gears/suspension/slicks and a mild H/C/I set up.
Past mid 11s and the pushrod set up would definately be cheaper to build.
Now get into forced induction and its a whole different ball park. Put a set of quality pistons and rods in a modular 4v (the 03-04 Cobra has pretty good ones to start) and you can pretty much make any amouny of power you want depending on blower/turbo size and what type of fuel (mid to low 8s are possible with stock heads, cams, crank, and block).
Dont try that with a 5.0l pushrod motor with only upgraded pistons and rods:doh:.

Basically just a fun street car I can run around in for about a year and make some money off of.
Personally I dont like the 94-98 mustangs at all and the 99-04 arent that good looking to me neither. Ive liked the foxbodies since I was a kid and just want one. Im not gonna keep it too long, may even sell it to my younger brother since hes getting almost old enough to drive.
I dont like the mod motors, both my friends who have 4.6 mustangs have all kinds of weird problems with them. Im familiar with pushrod motors and the 5.0 are easy to work on.
I want a fun cheap daily so I can actually play with the camaro. I dont like modding and racing something that carries me to school and work everyday.

Betcha he catches a lot of crap from other Ford owners.
Nice set-up. I'd definately like to see some more pictures and vids of that car!

I'll admit that I have a soft spot for fox bodies. I learned how to drive stick on a '93 GT. I loved that car to DEATH!!! If I had extra cash laying around, I'd pick up a super clean 92 or 93 LX to mod but i'd keep my Formula too!!!

That being said, some are okay :) My dad has a black mercury capri fox body that's pretty cool.

A 96-98 GT with a PI swap, LT's are a must, a killer tune and your looking at a pretty fast ride. My friend is selling his like this for about 5k and he's a dead heat with me. If your interested I'll post a link to his ad.
