My car gets really hot under the hood...The temperature gauge reads normal but if I drive it around for 10mins and then stop and open the hood it's already really hot under there even when it isn't that hot outside. I still have the stock Z28 hood on, but I'm getting ready to swap it out for a cowl hood and I'm hoping that will help a little. Is there anything else I can do?

Sounds normal. A cowl hood will help, wrapping you headers will also help

I actually haven't gotten my longtubes on yet. Will that help? What do you mean wrapping?

I wouldn't suggest wrapping the headers on a daily driven car. One reason being that the headers rust away very quickly under the wrap. Second reason being that if for any reason you get oil on the wrap there is a chance for fire. A good coating on the headers will help to reduce the temps and provide protection to the headers. +1 on the cowl hood too.
