Would I beat the local LS1 in a street race from a dead stop? My suspension is more setup for auto-x than drag.

Unfortunately my guess is the LS car will win. You may get the jump, though considering he's on DR's maybe not. If you do get the jump eventually the LS will catch up and pull in the higher RPM's. JMO

theres only one way to know for sure:driving:
Sounds like both cars should sit between 13.2 and 13.4.
I say you could give him a run for his money (probably just for fun though).

Nothing can beat the almighty LS1! Are you kidding?!?! LOL! Just messing!
You are definately going to be better off from a dig. Those LS1's keep pulling up top.
I'm going to give the advantage to the LS1. Definately too close to race for some $$$. Should definately be a good race though! Make sure to get it on video!

Since I've had the LT1 and now LS1 in my car, I know first-hand. When my LT1 had longtubes, ORY, cutout, BBK throttle body, Madtuner tune, and WS6 intake. I raced my friends that both have LS1 cars. One is a 98 Formula, the other a 98 Z28. When the Formula had just SLP lid and SLP Loudmouth, we raced and once we hit 3rd gear he would just pull hard away and put up to a few cars on me sometimes. 1st-2nd gear would be CLOSE. My friend's auto Z28 was all stock. When we raced, it was a drivers race. When I got the right launch and right shifts, I could pull ahead, if I wasn't damn near perfect on my form, he would jump out and hold the lead.
Now my untuned cammed LS1 pulls hard up top on both of em, but downlow can be close. It seems it just about takes a much lightened LT1 car with every bolt-on and a perfect form. Or a cam on a full weight street car to be a basic bolt on LS1. Up top the LS1's just PULL. Downlow the LT1 has an advantage.
