my shifter is shorter than a stock one. now can you put a short stick on a stock shifter, or do you need a whole new shifter? Im trying to figure out what i have. :jest:

I had a short stick from the WS6Store on my stock shifter and it hit the console in 2nd, 4th, and 6th. The stock handle had a curve in it to bend around the console (short one was straight). Now I've got a Hurst Billet Plus and the base where the stick bolts on is much taller than the stock one so it can clear the console with a straight stick. You can put on a short stick but you may have the same problem I did.:peace2:

The stock stick will have a round rubber bishing at the base with a steel frame, the frame bolts the the shifter. If yours bolts directlty to the shifter with no rubber bushing I'd say it's an aftermarket stick, you may still have the stock shifter though. It will bolt to the trans with a thin piece of stamped steel, most aftermarket shifters will have adjustable stops at the front and back and have a billet base.
