Has anyone wondered what happens to rotors when stopping from 150 mph in a short time? Well last year I made bunch of 140 mph passes now I'm running 150 mph. I was stopping at Byron without passing the turn off and turning around.
I looked at the front rotors, which are a stock replacement, and they have stress cracks about every 1/8" all the way around. For now I'm going to replace them with another set and next year I will be running a set of strange third generation front brakes with Midwest chassis chromoly spindles.
I will have pictures after I pickup a new set.

I got the new parts should be putting them on tommorrow. Last year they were fine. I'm not sure when they started cracking. But I know it is caused by the high temp they get to then the quick cooling after the car is parked.

May be off topic but when I had my old firebird I hit 150+ once and it scared the piss out of me when I tried to stop. The damn rotors didnt seem warped driving normal speeds but felt like it would vibrate the wheels off when I touched them topped out. Took me over a mile to stop.

Never had an issue with my LSx brakes. Going to Strange vented next year.
BTW drag brakes are worse if you get solid rotors ;)

The brakes got put on hold new parts sitting there but oh well. I will be going to a light weight racing style brakes next year and that has me a little worried. I just don't want to pull the handle unless I'm logging the oil pressure to see what type of oil control the pan has to offer. Not that it will make that big of a difference but data is nice.

as long as they know what they are doing. and if they say they can't, then they are full of it. But it does tear up the bits really fast which is why alot of places say no.
I've done about 4 or 5 sets at work without any problems, just wears the bit out after one set.
