my car currently has a lt4 hot cam kit and a slp loudmouth exhaust. this winter i plan on doing long tube headers and a ory. also to complement i want to heads and intake.
would i be better off ordering lt4 heads and a lt4 intake and bolting those on or have my intake and heads ported by a professional. i have a extra intake laying around now i could have a shop start on that. and i could always take my heads off in the dead of winter to have them ported.
not expecting great numbers but i hope this will help my car breath alot better and give it a little more gitty up :) any advice is appreciated.

I'd also like to know if there's much difference in porting the stock intake or the LT4 intake.... lot cheaper to port, I know that much!

Ported LT1 intake> Stock LT4 intake
Ported stock heads> Stock LT4 heads
You will have to change your cam out to make the most out of ported heads.

x2......... but ported LT4 stuff is better in the end with a good port job on a max effort build. At that point you might as well go with ported aftermarket heads and have the LT4 intake fitted to them. Either way its over kill for most builds.
I run ported stock Heads and intake

The hotcam is an excellent cam for stock heads, but it's too mild for ported heads.

C.Golen gets crazy results from his ported lt1 heads almost as good as AFR and Trickflow. Go with the ported.

I was in the same boat as you last fall. Already had the hotcam kit and wanted to bump the power up some. I ended up with LE2 stock ported heads and intake and we just left the hotcam alone. I'll do the cam when it's time for a new shortblock. :)
