Talking about the breather on the pass side valve cover. I had a autozone breather on there but it keep poping off so its open now. I took off the tube that ran up to the TB since its usless. So what does every1 put in there instead?

I use a Purolator B23165 crankcase filter. Advance auto and autozone have the part. It just replaces that elbow at the end of the hose that comes from the throttle body. Breathers allow unmetered air to enter, making the MAF readings be off.

So you still run it to the TB but its filtered?

Yep, it kept oil out of my throttle body but I don't put a lot of miles on. Some people make a PVC catch can setup in addition to the filter.

My breather from the passenger valve cover is the same as firebat's. I made a pcv filter from an air/ water seperating filter from Home Depot. I put in inline between the pcv valve and the vaccum port under the TB. It'll get about 1/2 full of oil after about 15-20 passes and every few hundred miles.

Why not do it right? http://www.jegs.com/i/Moroso/710/25900/10002/-1 Weld into the header collectors, set the rings better, evac and sounds kick ass when you are driving. Also known as "whistlers". (Think pro charger sound) Been around for many years and works like a champ.

I ran braided stainless to a vented (hidden) catch can. I'll try to take some pics this week while I'm cleaning for the Super Chevy Show this weekend in Indy.

I looked into that and even posted a trhead on here about it. That's the system I really wanted to use! The general consinsus I got from here, Racingjunk.com, and local engine and race car builders was that setup is designed for cars with open heders or very low restriction exhaust. I run a muffler and was told by several people that it may or may not work at idle and would not work as good as it was designed at high rpm due to the restriction caused by the muffler. My car sees street time and I figured the stock style pcv system with a filter was better sutied for my rpm range and setup. There were some people who said their cars pulled vaccum at idle with mufflers, I didn't want my car to be a lab rat! I'll post pics on Monday morning, I'm already running late for work!:peace2:

I was introduced to that set up from a very wise top fueler from the 70's Jerry Clayton. With proper exhaust set up/size what would be the reasoning behind it not working properly with scavenging effect? I could see if you had cats, stock manifolds and a restrictive muffler, but for the most of us with long tubes no cats and free flowing 3 inch exhaust it works just fine. The more the exhaust scavenges, the more vac it will pull and seat the rings.

What's your exhaust setup and can you tell if it pulls vaccum at idle? Also I was concerned with the oil mist being deposited/ burned on the O2's and causing a false reading, have you had any O2 issues?

Here's some pics of my pcv filter. It comes out of the pcv valve to the filter mounted under the relay/ fuse box then into the port under the TB.

I use the same filter as firebat suggested on page 1 and a regular rubber hose to the TB.

I just use two MOROSO metal "mushroom style" breathers... one in each valve cover...

I use something similar. Although, being speed-density I suppose I could have just used a filter.

I use the stock setup and have no oil in my intake, been like that for 3k+ miles. I thought about the filtered setups, but mine works fine so I left it alone......<<<<wow I can't believe I just said that LOL
