Yeah the idea is great, who doesnt want a supercharged V8 G8.... Hell I might even buy one if it werent named after a muscle car.

Sorry, you cant take a 4 door family sedan and make it muscle... EVEN if you use a legendary muscle name to go along with it and make up for that. It will never work.

Great idea, poor name. The guys at SLP must not have any imagination and must not be Firebird fans either. Any self respecting Firebird fan at that company would have squashed the "Firehawk" moniker for the G8 the second it was tossed out. How the f*** do you get Firehawk from G8 anyway?

here's my predictions...

2 door version will be called a Firebird again.

V6 version (most likely heavily turbo'd) will be a Grand National model.

I agree, a name change is in order. It just isnt going to help them like they think it will. Hell, nobody around here knows what a damn Firehawk is.... All they know is I own one, and when it comes you can hear it from blocks away :D

That plus, where else was I going to put it? Seems more like a Firebird problem to me if you know what I mean... And we dont have a Firehawk OR a G8 specific area yet, so cant have it there either.

I figured (and hoped) that the "GTO" fiasco would be rock-bottom as far as any naming problems with any GM vehicles, but I think this takes it to an even deeper level. :nono:

I'm just severely disappointed that SLP is not taking the moral high ground on this one, as it's fairly obvious from all the different internet discussion that this was a bone-headed move! Anyone with any common sense should've seen that coming a mile away!

Like somebody else said... First they killed the F-body... then it took them how long to decide to bring it back... then to find out we're only getting the Camaro... and now this????

SLP could've at least fought hard with GM to try to marry the Solstice with an LS2/3 and slapped "Firehawk" badges on that... which would be sweet, but this whole G8 thing is laughable!

Ok, bumping this because the topic sucks something hard and they havent changed the name yet... Anyone actually see the posts on LS1tech.com from Ed Hamburger about the new "Firehawk G8", go look them up if you want to see someone who totally does not give a shit about the Fbody community. Funny, because SLP was all about Fcars at one point :D

i agree, when i first saw this before, my stomach churned. firehawk is not a family sedan is not for a G8 it may suit a GTO at very very minimum. but firehawk belongs to the firebird, its morally wrong what they are doing! come on gm wtf is wrong in there, well pretty soon u will be no more at this rate. darn shame there is no one with free will to stand up and be creative and use his head!
